Right in that moment I wanted the ground to come up and suck me right into it, therefore I wouldn't have to deal with what was ahead of me.

What was such the issue you ask? Imagine you're standing in my place. I come home from a very awkward yet romantic date and find my mother and her 'friend' passed out half naked on the couch.

Ew.

I tried to creep away to my room. I really did. Mum must have had a little too much Johnnie Walker and therefore was drunk as drunk can be.

"DARLINGGGGG! WELCOME HOMEEE!" She slurred.

"Mum, go back to sleep."

"Sleep? There was no sleep going on here. Only, the good stuff." She winked at me.

Double ew.

"You're disgusting. I'm going to bed."

'GOODNIGHT SWEETIE MUMMY LOVES YOUUU."

I grunted to myself and tried my hardest to eliminate any visuals my mother had just scratched into my brain. I flopped onto my bed and tried to make sense of the night, you know, the part before my mother added some nasty details.

My mind was racing. Why was Alex so upset? Why has he just suddenly come into my life and started controlling every aspect of it? He introduced me to Zac for god's sake. I jumped up and began to pace my room, the soft carpet comforting my harsh steps.

He's the one that was being all 'help me be the most popular in school' blah blah. What's being friends with me going to help with that? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Why are boys so bloody confusing? I want to strangle them all and throw them in the bin. But then Zac, lovely and kind Zac, was so cool about it. Of course it was awkward, I mean I did pause our date to go and talk to another boy, how could that not become awkward?

I fell onto my bed again and rubbed my eyes with exhaustion.

Minutes passed with just me on my bed entrapped in my own mind. Should I call Alex? Maybe he can show me what he was going to show me before? Oh, but he's upset with me. I mean he shouldn't be, but I can't stop what he's feeling.

Whatever the hell he is feeling.

Maybe I should message Zac, try and settle the awkwardness. Again that's hard, it's better to do in person and it's too late now.

"Ugh." I moaned. Since when did my life become so difficult? That's it. No more boys are coming into my life. Life is simply too complicated with them in it.

"Violet." I whispered. "Let go of the idiot boys that are messing up your life."

I nodded my head in approval and went to bed.

************

"Hi Violet!" I hear a chirpy voice heading towards my way. I look up to see the one and only Gloria heading my way with her lunch bag scrunched into her hand.

"Hey Glor, how was English?"

"Ugh, boring as usual. Mr Maper is such a bore, kill me please." She giggled before sitting down beside me. "So now that you've officially made the team, we need you to come in for extra practise on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to help you catch up with the rest of the team. We don't want anyone bringing us down!" I nodded.

"I can't wait to start. What time this afternoon?"

"3:45pm. On the dot. Panthers are never late!"

"Technically panthers don't need to be anywhere at a specific time." I smirked and we cracked out laughing.

Mid-laugh I glanced over at the popular boys table only to meet eyes with Zac, who was sadly peeking over at me. I watched him take out his phone and begin to type like a mad man.
