"Mum, please! At least consid-"

"No, absolutely no way." She cut me off.

"But mum!" I protested."I could go off, get an education and then get a proper job and make proper money. Don't you want that for me?" I passively aggressively whined.

"Then who's going to help me around here? And how are we going to pay for it?" She questioned, making me wonder myself if this was a good idea.

"Mum, please. I'll find a way to pay the money and as for helping you, I can always work in the mornings and afternoons when I get home from school. You won't even notice a drop in clients. Plus the bus stops right in front of our house!" I pleaded.

"You really are your father's daughter aren't you?" I blushed slightly. My father really was a great man...

"Is that a yes?" I pursed my lips together; waiting for her to completely shut my down.

She sighed loudly. "It's a yes."

I screamed and leaped into her arms. I hadn't realised how much I had actually always wanted to go to school until Alex had convinced me into his little plan. After some serious consideration it had actually seemed like an amazing place to be.

I was too excited to keep this all to myself, and well, since I now actually have somewhat of a friend, I ran next energetically to the Steele's and pounded excitedly their front door.

To my surprise Randy, Mr Steele, opened the door and warmly greeted me. "I'm here to see Alex, if I could." I grinned.

"Sure thing, sweetheart." He turned away from the door. "ALEEEXXXX, VIOLET'S AT THE DOOR." He yelled so the entire neighbourhood was able to hear his deep bellow.

Shortly after, Alex came down the stairs and smiled at me sweetly. "Hey what's up?"

"Mum's letting me go to school!"

"Well that's great news Vi, because if she hadn't let you, you would have broken our little deal and would have had to face the consequences..." He trailed off and I scrunched my eyebrows together in confusion.

"Consequences? What consequences? There are no consequences!" I nervously stuttered.

"Oh yeah, you should have read the terms and conditions."

"So wait, what exactly are these consequences then?"

Alex cleared his throat. "If one party breaks said agreement, then that party must lick the other party's toes."

"Mr Steele, I am never ever going to lick your toes." I shuddered simply at the disgusting thought.

"Then don't break our agreement, Sunshine."

It took it all in at once and I couldn't help but be nervous. My palms were clammy and my jaw was constantly jittering, but hopefully no one else would notice that. Heaps of kids, dare say it thousands of kids, were in front of me scuttling to their class or to their friends or God knows what. There were a few teachers, trying their best to avoid all contact with their students by raising their elbows in the air ensuring not to knock over any little seventh graders.

I glanced over to Alex who looked as calm as can be whereas me, I was the complete opposite. My knees were knocking and a billion thoughts were racing through my mind at 100 miles an hour. Alex noticed my uncomfortable stance and gave me a reassuring smile.

"It's going to be great, Sunshine. Believe me."

I didn't know if I wanted to believe him. All I do know is that I desperately wanted to turn around and run away from this place as fast as I could, but with a gentle hand placed on my back, Alex led me to the office where we were to finalise our enrolments.

Here goes nothing.
