"Random? Completely Random?" Rory asked, contemplating something on the TARDIS monitor.

"Yup, fully randomise the coordinates. Any what, any where, any when." The Doctor beamed and spun about the console pulling levers and pressing buttons in some presumably ordered series. The Time Rotor set off oscillating above them. Amy leant back against the dais railings and watched the two quibble on with a bemused smile on her face.

"Isn't that a bit dangerous?" Rory was saying, "I mean, we could materialise anywhere - in the middle of the Sun, or another star, or more likely some random spot in open space." The Doctor huffed.

"Well Ok I lied a bit," He conceded, "it's completely random, except for stars and space!"

"Isn't that most of the universe - stars and space?" Amy laughed.

"Yes Ok so I lied a lot," the Doctor grumbled, "but that still leaves planets! Loads of stuff you can do on planets. Random planets too!" He stopped spinning and straightened his bowtie in that cringey-suave way of his. "Ooh yes, hmm that's very me - the Random Planet Man." They laughed at that. The Time Rotor was now slowing down, the grinding of the breaks starting up. The Doctor hopped off the dais and down the steps. Amy and Rory followed more slowly behind.

All of sudden a strange sinking sensation crept through Amy's body, making her feel lightheaded and off balance.

"Whoa, do you feel that?" Rory clutched at the rails next to her.

"Yeah it's like ... like that feeling you get in an elevator." He replied.

"H-ho!" The Doctor cried, "we've landed in a lift! Now that's precision flying. I must be getting better at this now." He plucked his braces gleefully. "It used to be terribly hard in the old days." The sensation lifted and Rory let go of the rails.

"I'm just saying that it's these sorts of situations where one of those environment checks Amy told me about would be especially useful," Rory exclaimed to no one in particular.

"Ooh you are a big wuss aren't you?" Amy teased.

"I'm just trying to be realistic."

"Realistic! Hah! Then what are these?" She pointed incredulously at his shoes.

"Hey there's nothing wrong with vans." He defended, taking his jacket off the hat stand.

"Oh yeah, perfect for all those hostile alien planets with acid rocks and toxic lifts. Shoulda gone with da boots." She gestured at her own feet proudly.

"Now see that's just reinforcing my point about the environment check."

"Oh come on Rory," the Doctor called from the doors, "it's much more fun this way. You never know what to expect." With that he flung both doors open wide, and was blasted back by the great torrent of water that burst into the room.
