My first memory is an odd one, it's warm but cold. I remember feeling Mother clean me her warm breath warming me but Forest's floor is cold, chilling me to my bones. I hear my brothers yipping at Mother trying to get her attention, a few seconds later she picks me up and carries my to my brothers. I'm placed in a wiggling mass everyone fighting for attention. My brothers say that's the reason I'm different, I remember the warmth of my Mother while my brothers only remember the cold floor. I used to question it but now I've accepted it, I'll always be different, and whether or not my brothers believe it. Warmth in family is a good thing.
The second thing I remember is pain, sharp and strong in my stomach. There was hardly any food, most of the food was being hunted by the Two-legs. My brothers and I were kicked out of our Mother's den. This came as no shock to anyone but I swear there was actual sadness in my Mother's eyes when she told us that it was time to go.
We all left in different directions, I walked toward the Two-legs village. I had heard that the food was good along the way there. I neared the edge of the Forest and heard shouting from the Two-legs, I raced to see what was going on. There was a wolf running toward the village. I watched horrified as the Two-legs came running out with stones, but it soon turned into fascination as I saw more wolves run. I thought they were going to stop the first wolf but instead they ran for the livestock. I realised my own hunger, growing stronger by the second. I watched, salivating at the thought of all that fresh meat, I hadn't eaten for days. Finally as a wolf ripped into a goat did I snap, I lept into action racing across the field. I soon passed three wolves in my race to get food, but I didn't fully realize that, I had already found my target a big fat pig. I launched at it and ripped into it tearing it to shreds, after eating barely enough to be able to control myself I took the biggest chunk of pig and ran back to the Forest to really enjoy my meal.
For many Moons this routine continued, even when there was an obvious lack of livestock and the Two-legs were getting more aggressive but we continued until we had eaten all of the livestock, Once again we were hungry. For another week I stayed there on the edge of the Forest and Field, then at Dawn of when I was supposed to leave it happened. An old grizzled wolf attacked the playing young Two-legs, instantly killing one, the others ran screaming to the village what felt like seconds later all the Two-legs came back. This time was different though they were carrying small orange Suns on sticks, they were also yelling. They chased us back to the Forest, light bouncing off the tall trees, I split off from the other wolves. I ran and ran until I hit a small clearing with a Lake this is good Prey will come here to drink.
I stayed alone there for five Suns sometimes Two-legs would come by and I would hide in the marsh. Until I heard six wolves being chased by Two-legs. They were panting hard and I knew that if I didn't do some thing they would die. I took up a defensive position toward the Two-legs, it was natural like water flowing or running, the other wolves saw me and what I was doing and fanned out behind me then as one we lept forward running for the Two-legs. As one we chased the Two-legs back to their village, as one we hunted to celebrate, we took down more Prey than I ever had alone. So together as one we decided to stay as one, later that night as the Whole Moon rose you could hear howls blending together as one.
