The countries were all gathered around the meeting room table like the ancient Knights of the Round Table. They laughed and celebrated the last day of the year, speculated about the year to come. But none of the beloved countries could have foreseen what would happen the following day. Of course, just like in most meetings, many countries were not paying attention to Germany. Such as Italy who had been spinning around in his chair for fifteen minutes, or Greece who was once again napping. The more mature countries were--as usual--trying to reign everybody in, for the last important matter before the countdown to the new year began. After awhile Germany stood up from his chair suddenly and stopped the motion of Italy's annoying amusement. "Passt auf,"(1) he warns the other countries sternly. Hearing this the countries who were not paying attention look at him, and Italy tries to spin his chair while looking at Germany.
"Alright everyone" England said standing up from his seat, "Let's discuss the final bullet point of the old year." The other countries all nod and settle back in their seats, this time paying attention.China picks up where England left off "The final topic of the meeting is..."
"Cheeseburgers," America interrupts.
England responded by smacking America upside the head "no you git. The topic is keeping the peace for the next year."
"Leave that to me," America chirpped, "I'm the hero!"
Germany groaned at the American's hero complex and China face-palmed.
"Shut up America." England said becoming slightly annoyed with the younger nation. "Now does anyone have any thoughts on how we can avoid war this coming year? "
"Promise to all be friends," Sealand suggested.
"Anyone besides the twelve year old who thinks he's a country?" England asked ignoring Sealand.
"Would a nonaggression pact work? Like during World War 2 between Russia and Germany," Lichtenstein suggested.
"Yes that would work. Well it should." England said.
America jumped out of his seat and danced on the table "Now that that's done, let's get this party started! Did anyone bring booze?"
"Well I did but you're nineteen so you can't drink" Denmark said pulling out a six pack of beer.
America pouted, "But nineteen year olds can drink in Europe"
"Ya well you're not from Europe, so you don't get beer." Denmark said.
"No one is getting any beer or alcohol until the pact is voted on, agreed to, written, and signed." Germany said standing up from his chair.
America sat back down reluctantly, "Then can I sneak some alcohol?"
France winked at the American as if to say "I got your back."
England sighed in annoyance at the two of them. "Alright all in favor of the pact raise you're hand."
One by one, the countries all raised their hands...except Italy, who had gone back to spinning in his chair. Germany once again stopped the motion of the swivel chair and the other countries all looked expectantly at Italy.
Italy quickly raised his hand "I like the pact."
"Then it's settled, we'll all be friends," Sealand said gleefully.
"Allies Peter. We will be allies. Friendship is not guaranteed even with a pact." England pointed out.
Sealand pouted as the paper was passed around the table, each country signing his or her name.
"Can we party now?" Denmark asked
America jumped out of his seat and onto the table for the second time that night, stripping his shirt off and hollering "Yas!"
Germany shook his head as Denmark pulled the beer back out before bringing out his own booze that he had brought."America put your shirt back on!" England yelled
"No," the said nuisance shouted, "I thought you liked me like this."
The other countries glance knowingly at each other and return to celebrating. Sealand pushed Italy around on his wheeled chair-iot, while Germany chased them with a murderous look on his face because they ran over his foot.
"Shut up"england said. America leaped from the tabletop to land with his arms around England's neck and his legs encircling the Brit's waist, piggyback style, giving his eyebrows-on-fleek friend a big smooch on the cheek in the process. Denmark shrugged at the two's antics then continued to pass out beer to those of age. France tried to take a second bottle to sneak to America, but Norway smacked his hand as he reached for it. Canada shook his head as he watched the antics taking place in the room, and yelled happy new year as loud as he could when midnight hit. England threw America off him upon hearing the clock strike twelve, perhaps fearing that the American would kiss him. Instead, France pulled England in for a kiss and America stood up and rushed across the room to someone he had had his eyes on all night. Italy jumped up from the swivel chair and kissed Germany.
Germany made a surprised sound in the back of his throat before relaxing into the kiss. Italy smiled and pulled away. As this was going on the countries continued to have fun. Blissfully unaware of the events that would soon unfold.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I apologize if this chapter sucks. My cousin and I are writing this over text message. But I promise it will get interesting soon. I also promise these notes will be less awkward.
