Mykaela POV

I picked up my cell phone and called my driver, Dean. I called ahead and hired a car service for the duration of my stay in New York. I wanted to find the perfect dress for dinner tonight. My problem now is that I don’t know anything about shopping here. Hopefully Dean will know where to take me. “Hi there Myk. Where can I take you today?” I really like Dean he is a really nice person. “Morning Dean. I need to find the perfect dress for dinner tonight. I have no idea where to go. Can you help me out?” I chuckled into the phone. “Of course Myk. My wife is like the queen of shopping. I’m already downstairs. Just come down when you’re ready.” With that being said we hung up.

I dressed in my white cami, rainbow hang off, denim skinny jeans and white boots, grabbing my necklace, I head down stairs. The smiling doorman, Tom, opens the building door for me. I step through the door with a quick thanks. Dean shuts the car door once I get settled. I have to admit shopping has never been my thing. Dean takes me everywhere. Barney’s, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale’s, H&M, well you get the idea. If it is name brand I shopped in the store. So far I have bought a couple of things but nothing for tonight. I wonder if I will ever find a dress.

I am taken out of my thoughts by Dean opening my door. I look around wondering when we stopped. I look up to notice that we have arrived at Michael Kohr’s. A huge grin is plastered to my face. I have always loved this store. I take the hand that Dean offers to me. “I take it that you like this store.” I nod my head in agreement. “I may be in this place for a while. You may want to grab a bite to eat while I’m here.” He nodded his head and we walked away from each other.

I step into the store. There are a few people browsing in the store. For the briefest moments it looks as if the guy behind the counter recognizes me but his face goes blank in the next second. I’m looking through the dress racks when I hear an unfamiliar voice. “Myk, is that you?” I turn around to see a woman that I don’t recognize but she looks so familiar. She is wearing a pink wrap dress with matching sandals. “I’m sorry do I know you?”  “No, we haven’t officially met.” The smile she is trying to give is not convincing. “Well you know my name but I don’t know yours.” She gives me a little chuckle. “Oh so Curtis doesn’t talk about me then?” My eye brows raise in surprise. I have to say that I was not expecting that. Then it dawns on me where I have seen her before. “Oh my, you’re Shaniqua, right?” She nodded in response. I held my hand out to her. “I’m glad to finally meet you, I‘m Mykaela. You have raised an amazing young man.”

I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I looked over and only caught the back of the guys head. My hand automatically dropped. I could swear that was Jaeson Smith, Richards younger brother. Shaniqua cleared her throat. I turned my attention back to her to see she had tried to take my hand. “Oh I’m sorry I thought I saw someone I know.” I took her hand and she smiled again. This time it was a genuine one. “So, just doing a little shopping?” We both said in unison and laughed. “Yeah, Curtis has a dinner meeting with a mutual acquaintance so I’m going too.” I shook my head in frustration. “I just cant seem to find a dress.” “I think I can help with that. Come with me.” She pulled me toward the back room that said VIP on it. The guy behind the counter, whose name tag read Tyler, opened the door for us. Shaniqua patted his shoulder and told him to follow. For the next hour I tried on dress after dress. The last dress I tried on was a pink and black lace cashmere dress. It made my curves look dangerous. The three of us nodded our heads and said “this is the one”.

“So Mykaela, I know that this may not be my business but are you really pregnant?” I couldn’t help but to laugh. “Absolutely not. I don’t think we’re ready for a baby, especially this early in the relationship.” When I came out of the dressing room in my own clothes she was nodding her head. “Any way Shaniqua, it is kind of your business. That’s something that would effect Marquise. In my opinion that makes it your business.” She gave me a small smile. “Thank you. You know I really like you. Curtis is right about you.” At that moment my stomach growled causing us to laugh. We get along as if we have known each other forever. I wonder how Curtis would feel about that. I mean, guys don’t like it when there girlfriend get along with their ex, right? “Hey there’s a great little diner down the street. You want to grab a bite?” “Sure” I nodded my head in agreement.
