"Hi honey," my Mom greeted me warmly but I wasn't in the mood. I threw my bag onto the couch and sat down, sulking.

"What's wrong?" She frowned while trying to comb Auggie's curly hair.

"Oww," whined Auggie, tugging at his own hair. I smiled at my 11-year-old brother.

"Nothing apart from the fact that Mr. Break Your Heart is back."

My mom's expression darkened. "I'm sure it's going to be fine."

I shrugged and walked to my room.

I took my trusty laptop out and opened my locked drawer. It contained at least 5 jars of Nutella and 7 packs of gummy bears. Ah, the comfort of food.

Flipping my device open, I started to type out the 1000 word essay I was supposed to hand in. 1000 words is hard. For most normal kids it definitely is hard because 1000 words is a lot for them. Me? It's hard because I have so many ideas in my head and it's so difficult to write them all down in JUST 1000 words.

While scooping a spoon of the gooey Nutella into my mouth, I saw a Skype message pop up from the corner of the screen.

Zay Babeneaux: What's up, Smiley? Just to letcha know that I'm comin' back next week, tell Maya I'm waiting ;)

Oh shoot.

I haven't mentioned Zay. Zay Babineaux (no, his Skype user is NOT a typo, he just likes to call himself babe because he's crushing on himself that way) was Lucas and Farkle's other best friend before Lucas left. I don't think he knew about the pain I was going through after Friar left but it was painful for him too. He and Maya were dating. But when Maya got into "the teams", his mom was sadly diagnosed by cancer and he had to leave immediately. He never contacted us, until now, and I don't blame him for anything because I understand he doesn't have time and family is first priority, unlike Mr-cares-too-much-about-hot-girls-and-doesnt-give-a-damn-friar. He had a very funny personality and it always felt nice to be around him because he could make you laugh under any circumstances. I had to be very careful with how I put my words because... Maya. He would be broken if he found out that Maya had bullied me relentlessly, hooked up with more boys than I could remember and worse... that his best friend and girlfriend had been making out with each other just earlier this morning.

Riley M: Hi Zay! I'm glad you're going to be back soon! Safe flight!

Zay Babeneaux: Is Maya here? I really miss her :(

Riley M: I'm afraid she's not :0

Zay Babeneaux: aw that sucks man. I've been calling her for 7 times and she won't pick up.

Riley M: well I guess she's busy ^_^

Zay Babeneaux: why'd ya change ur user? Wasn't it Smiley Riley :) ?

Riley M: uh... I just don't feel like it anymore ;')

Zay Babeneaux: oh... btw how's Lukey? I heard he came back. We haven't talked in ages lmao

Riley M: He came back! He's great, and he's the best friend anyone could ask for :D

Zay Babeneaux: Dats awesome. I gtg riles :( c u next week :D

I let out the breath I didn't realise I was holding back. I got one week. One week to fix everything before Zay comes back.
