It turns out that me and Jacob have five classes together: math, science, history, ELA, and art. He's awesome at math and science! Every time the teachers said to work with a partner, me and Jacob instantly looked at each other.... Then we would smile.
We have become really good friends in one day! I found out that he lives next door to me and my mom. After school, I asked if I could go next door and welcome our new neighbors and my mom made cookies for them and told me to run them over to the neighbors.
"Oh, hello there!" A pretty lady came and opened the door. "Hello! My name is Jackie Lawin. I'm your neighbor." I tell her. Then I see Jacob come down the stairs. "Hey Jackie!" His mother invites me in their lovely home and I give her the cookies. "These are from my mother. They're homemade!" I say to Jacob and his mother. "Oh! Why thank you!" His mother says cheerfully.
"You two go have fun!" She says eagerly, shooing us off upstairs. Jacob looks at me and waves me upstairs to his room. "Make yourself at home! Sorry about the boxes, we're still unpacking. Want to help me?" He asks me, unpacking some trophies he's won in the past. "Sure!" I say.
I pull out a trophy and observe it, looking at the details. "That one was from when I was in baseball in 5th grade. I had a lot of fun that year!" He tells me, making me look up. He sends me a smile. I smile back and put the trophy on the shelf.
"Have you been in any sports before?" He asks me with a certain look I haven't seen before. "Me? Eh, not many  but I was in volleyball for 3 years." I tell him unpacking more trophies.
He smiles again showing his two dimples in the corner of his lips. "Nice!" I look in his eyes and smile. He unloads the last trophy and stands back. "How's it look?"  I step back and look at all the trophies on the shelf. I nod, "Pretty good if you ask me!" I feel a buzz in my back pocket and pull my phone out. "Hey girl! Get over here! I need to tell you something!" It was a text from my best friend Rylan. We've been friends since 1st grade.
I look up at Jacob. "Hey ,uh, I gotta go. See you later?" He looks at me and his smile fades away. "Aww! I wanted you to stay! Yeah, you can come over at 5 tonight." I start walking out of his room and call over my shoulder. "Ok dork!" I turn around and smile. He smiles back.

"So! Did you see that new kid? Jacob I think his name is! The girls were all over him!" Rylan asks. I look at her and nod. "Yeah, he's my neighbor. I was just over at his house when you text me." Her eyes get big and I swear they could have popped out! "OMG JACKIE!! You were at his house?! You're so lucky!!" She gets all excited over everything that includes boys.
I look away as I feel my cheeks get flushed. "Yeah...." I say uncomfortably.  "My mom made them cookies and sent me over there to give them to him and his mom. He has LOTS of trophies! I helped him unpack some of this stuff." She looked at me with her eyes devilish. "Did you guys...?" I looked at her like she had 7 heads. "Are you crazy?! No!! We're not going to do that! I'm not going to do that until I'm like....24!!" I tell her.
Sure I liked him and all and he said he might like me but... That's just too far! I'm not even on the kissing level! "Why would you ask that?!" I ask her with wide eyes. "Oh you know you want to!" I look at her with even wider eyes. "No!! I do not want to! I'm not going to be 14 and pregnant!" I almost started yelling but I stopped myself.
"Okay! Fine if you don't want to make sure you keep him going for you, then I guess you'll just loose him....." I squint my eyes at her. "How did you know he liked me?" She looked at me the same way my mom does when I say something she can prove wrong. "Jackie, in ELA and math class he practically starred at you the whole time!!" I looked at her clueless.
"Well I gotta go! I have to get home for dinner and after that I'm going back over to Jacobs." She walks me to her front door and says bye. I ride my bike back home and get something to eat.
