(Hey there. Introducing Amanda, Jake, Sady, Naomi, Phil, and Marie in this chapter. Enjoy!)
Baking Business
One"Ha ha" I laughed sarcastically at Naomi's and Jake's joke about me. "But no, Jake, I do not eat like a gorilla when I'm hungry" I do not know why they are laughing so hard, its ridiculous.
Once they quieted down I spoke up. "Anybody want brownies?" They frantically nodded their heads. We stood up, brushed ourselves off, and ran upstairs.
I'm Amanda, there's also Jake and Naomi. They are my best friends. Jake, Mimi and I like to hang in the basement. My older brother sleeps down here too so we put up a curtain in between our hideout, and his bedroom or whatever you call his mess.
I gave a brownie to Sady, my little sister. "Now shoo!" I gestured with my hands. She looked at Jake and then left. "Mmm! Mandy these are delicious!" Mimi moaned in delight. I smiled. "Thanks Mimi! Jake do you like it?" I asked turning to him.
"Well its a little to sweet and the bottoms soggy and its falling apart an-" he stopped when he saw my face fall. "Just kidding! Their amazing thanks" he joked. I smiled again "Thank you"
After eating about 16.3527.352892.252892.0000 brownies each there were some left on the plate. "What to do with these..? We should give them to someone" Jake said tapping he chin. "Ooh I know! We could give it to Phil! He could sure use it" Mimi suggested. Phil was the towns best baker "Great idea Mimi! Come on lets go!" Jake put the brownies in the container while Mimi and I put on our coats. "K lets go!" Jake cheered handing me the container. I stuck my tongue out at him. He poked it.
I withdrew it "Eww! Jake Glade! Don't you ever do that again!" I scolded him using his middle name. He scowled. He never liked his middle name. "Oh come on guys lets go! Jake stop acting like a baby your thirteen for Pete's sake!" Mimi scolded him too.
So this is how it went for the whole walk. We fought, laughed, laughed, laughed, fought, and laughed. When we finally got to Phil's house we were out of breath. Mimi knocked on the door while I straightened my skirt. Jake was assigned to do all the talking. Phil opened the door. I handed him the brownies. "Mandy made these and we thought you would like them," Jake said. Then he leaned into Phil's ear and whispered something I couldn't understand. When he stood straight again they were both laughing their asses off.
Mimi and I gave each other weird glances, mostly confused ones. Finally when they stopped Phil cleared his throat. "Hey kids come on in, its cold outside" This was not true because its June. But we followed him anyways. His wife, Marie, was rolling bread on the countertop. Everybody else took off their shoes while I walked right to her. I pointed at the dough. "If you left it a little bit thicker then when it rises will be fluffier and flavorful. Also if you add some of this," I walked over to the seasoning cabinet and came back with some cinnamon. "-You would have the most delicious pizza ever" I finished to look up to find everybody staring at me like I was some crazy lunatic.
"Whaaaaat? Can't a girl bake?" I asked sheepishly. "Wow, you really know your pizza Emmy" Jake said walking over to me. Jake's the only one allowed to call me Emmy, everybody else calls me Mandy. "Haha. But yeah I love to bake" I said and walked to the couch and sat down. Phil came in with a plate of chocolate donuts with sprinkles. "You know Amanda, you should open your own store"
I started choking on my donut at Phil's words. Jake thumped my back while Mimi covered her mouth to muffle her laugh. "What? Me? Why" these questions ran through my head over and over until he swallowed the rest of his donut. "Well I think your very good at baking so you should sell your work, make some extra cash" I shook my head. "No thanks. Anyways I gotta go, cya guys later!" I jumped up and grabbed my friends. They grumbled and complained all the way home.
Over the weeks they kept trying to make me open a shop. I kept saying no. Then they even went to their public school behind my back and started putting up posters saying "Amanda Tildr's an awesome baker. If you guys help us get her to open a shop, you'll each get a free pie!" I was even more pissed when my inbox filled with emails from randoms and from Phil and Marie.
Though I just got fed up and said yes. Everybody was happy except me. Me? I looked like a girl/gorilla whose chocolate got taken away from her on her period. Other then the fact that my birthday was tomorrow, nothing could get worse.
