Gale's Point of View

I left home with enough time to see what was caught in my snares and to meet up with Katniss at our meeting spot. As I went from one snare to another, I realized that they were all empty. Katniss must have already gone through them. Either that or we just lucked out. A great day for that too. "May the odds be ever in your favor" and all that, right? 

I finally reached our rendezvous point and saw Katniss in our tree, her back turned to me, stalking out some prey, with a couple dead squirrels and a dead chipmunk next to her. Not an ideal catch, but i'll take it. We need anything we can get. 

I stood there admiring her hunting skills, she was already amazing after only a few years of truly emerging herself into this routine, until she remarked, "Are you just going to stand there watching me, or are you going to come on up and join me?" After which I promptly climbed the tree and found a seat on an adjacent branch. 

"Have you been waiting long?" I inquired.  

"Not too long, but you shouldn't keep a girl waiting, you know," she teased. 

"Sorry, sorry, but I didn't realize you we're a damsel in distress that needed saving!" 

"I'm not!!!" she exclaimed with a push. 

I smirked at her, surprised at her outburst, until she calmed down a bit, "Are you alright?" I asked with concern. 

"Fine. It's only the day of the reaping. What if I get reaped? What if Prim does? What if you do?" Whoa, she's really upset! 

"Prim will be fine. She's only in it once. You and I will be fine, too. May the odds be never in your favor!" I said with the fake Capital accent. 

The next couple hours went by quickly, and an extra two seers later, we went our separate ways with a quick hug goodbye and a wish of good luck. 

I took a deer and the squirrels, while Katniss took the other deer and the chipmunk. We usually sold them in the hob, but this time i went straight home to get me and my siblings ready for the reaping.
