Mackenzie’s P.O.V
The bright light streamed in from the shades that covered my bedroom window, morning had arrived though I wanted nothing more than to go back to last night.
~9 hours earlier~
The bonfire was blazing inches from where Liam and I sat on one of the logs surrounding the pit. I was curled into Liam’s side, his arm around my waist keeping me close, the warmth radiating out from where my skin touched his. He looked down at me, his brown eyes filled with happiness.
“Let’s go for a walk.” He whispered in my ear. I looked up at him, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. I quickly shook my head signaling that I indeed wanted to go for a walk. He stood up, and I followed, grabbing his hand and leading him towards the wooded area of the beach. The wooded area was small though it lead to the secret beach that I discovered when i came here as a child. The sand was softer and much paler, the stars seemed to shine brighter there, and I felt like I could do anything even if I was alone there. I hadn’t ever told anyone or showed anyone the secret beach though I always thought my mother knew about it when she and my father had bought the property that it was there but never thought to go there. As I peered of into the distance I saw what I had seen as a child, the bright tiki torches I had turn on when I came earlier though I wasn’t quite sure I would be coming back to the beach tonight. I ran towards it, my feet hitting the hard sand topped with broken branches and rocks.
I looked back remembering why I had been going to the beach in the first place, Liam, who was far behind me in the wooded area. “Come on Liam,” I screamed hoping it would help him to find it on his own.
“But I can’t see anything,” Liam called from the woods almost sounding frustrated. I slowly walked back into the woods trying to remember where I had left him.
“I’m right here, follow my voice,” I replied as I reached out for him. My hand fell on his broad chest, feeling his toned muscles as it drifted down into his large hand compared to my small one. I walked a few steps facing him to make sure that he was following me before I turned back around to guide him to the beach. The tiki torches were still where I had left them a few minutes ago, the sky still filled with bright star and a full white moon.
I looked up at him, feeling my cheeks turn pink, “I haven’t brought anyone here ever,” I whispered.
“So I guess that makes me special,” he said grinning from ear to ear.
“Yeah, I guess it does,” I said smiling up at him which followed with him picking me up and walking over to the middle of the beach. I don’t know why or how but I was giggling like a little girl. Liam looked down at me from where he sat next to me on the pale sand, his eyes peering into mine with such intensity. As he laid his soft palm on my cheek, the giggles ended and the butterflies in my stomach began to flutter again. As he looked into my eyes, I looked at his face; his perfect brown puppy dog eyes that could make me doing just about anything, his smooth lips that had kissed mine earlier this evening, and his dimples that could bring me out of my saddest of days. We sat there for what seems like forever just looking at each other before I broke the silence that sat between us.
“Well, are you going to kiss me?” I said holding back the giggles again.
“Why yes, I am.” Liam mumbled against my lips as we kissed. The kiss lasted until we were both out of breath, leaving us wanting more though too tired to do anything more. We laid on our back, just lying there, looking up at the stars. A breeze came now and again leaving chills running up my spine. Liam seemed to sense this as he came closer, putting his arm around me, pulling me close to him. He radiated heat against where we touched and I felt like a fire had begun to blaze. My eyes began to drift shut but I couldn’t tell if it was the warmth of Liam or the tiredness I felt fall over me though it could have been a mix of both.
“Are you asleep?” Liam whispered though I was too tired to respond so I just moaned. He laughed in response before getting up, taking him warmth with me. I thought he had left me in the secret beach for a second before he picked me up bridal style again and carried me back to the house. He laid me down on the bed before I heard him rummage in the drawers of my dresser. He sat me up slightly before pulling my dress over my head and replacing it with one of my large sleep shirts. He then opened the bed to tuck me in before pulling the covers up and kissing me goodnight.
~Current Time~
“Sleepyhead it’s time to get up.” Liam said as I moaned in response. I rolled over to find a wide awake Liam laying on his side just looking at me.
“Were you staring at me?” I said jokingly.
“Maybe.” Liam replied grinning.
“So what are your plans for today?” I asked curiously.
“Well I have an errand to run but other than that I am all yours.” He said calmly.
“Great!” I said before pecking him on the lips and practically crawling out of bed to go to my closet. I finally decided on a navy blue and black striped sundress paired with black sandals and a matching black purse. Before I left the empty room, I went and sat at the vanity in my room. Looking in the mirror I couldn’t help like feel like something was missing, so I put the locket my dad gave me long ago around my neck, letting it hang before swiping some light pink lipstick on. Finally everything was perfect, not just my outfit but everything, I had my friends, and Liam, and a bright day ahead.
