~Walking to school~
I got out my phone and inserted my headphones into the little hole on the bottom.
I only put one of the headphones in my ears just so that I can hear any other surrounding sounds from my other ear.
After losing dad I have always been cautious about what is going on around me and t always be ready.
That's why I carry pepper spray wherever I go. I'm a loser, I know.
Weird. I thought, the walk to school seemed longer today. Maybe I had taken a wrong turn? The houses that I passed were familiar but I didn't recall passing them every other day I walked to school.
I soon found my way out of the street as I headed towards the street which I take my usual route to school.
In less than seven minutes I arrived at school and was greeted by my two friends Sierra and Meagan.
"Happy Birthday Layla!!" They shouted hugging me.
More like choking me to death but anyway..
I hugged them back and thanked them. "Finally your sixteen like the rest of us" Meagan said as she brushed her hair with her fingers and put it to the side.
"Yeah, finally" I said smiling.
As much as I loved my friends, I only really cared if He was back.
"Um, where's Tristan?" I asked them.
"I don't know." Sierra answered
"No idea." Meagan said when I looked at her questioningly. I thought he said he was going to be back from Bora Bora today.
"I thought he was going to be back as well" Meagan said as if she read my mind.
"Me too." Sierra said.
"Me three" said a fourth familiar voice behind us. I turned around to find a boy with brunette hair and a pair of bluish, greenish eyes staring back at me grinning.
"Tristan!!!" We all yelled at the same time as he pulled us into a group hug. Tristan was friends with Meagan and Sierra as well, but me and Tristan's friendship was something you couldn't come in between.
"So how was your trip?" I asked smiling
"Great"
"Great that's all you have to say? One word? Great?" Sierra asked surprised.
"Yup" Tristan replied smirking.
"You can't be serious Tristan" Meagan said smiling and fluttering her eyelashes -which she thinks makes her look attractive.
"But I am serious meg" Tristan said smiling cheekily.
"Don't call me Meg! we've gone through this before!" Meagan stomped her foot on the ground like a child as she said don't.
"Yes ma'am" Tristan said putting his hands up in surrender.
After another few minutes of listening to all the gossip Meagan had to inform Tristan about, he parted ways with us to go and meet all his other friends who were waiting for his arrival.
He forgot my birthday... I thought after he left, but I didn't want to show that I was sad so I put on a fake smile and followed Meagan and Sierra.
As we walked passed all the lockers people greeted me and wished me a happy birthday.
The people who hadn't been talking to me for the past three months were now suddenly speaking again?
I bet it's because Tristan is back, and all the girls in the school are basically drooling over him, so I guess since we are best friends they thought they could become friends with me to become friends with Tristan? Pfft yeah like that's going to happen.
"How does everyone know its my birthday?" I asked Meagan and Sierra.
"Hmm I don't know" Sierra said shrugging while Meagan attempted to throw Sierra a quick secret smirk, which failed because I saw her.
"You guys are really bad at lying" I said smiling. Well Meg is the worst at lying-she has no idea I call her meg- once she admitted to the whole class that she had a crush on one of the Wiggles, I think it was Anthony, but that was in grade five.
"What makes you think that we are lying?" Meagan asks putting on her innocent face.
"I don't know, what do you think makes me think that you are lying?"
"That's confusing." Meagan said as Sierra pulls her lips into a goofy smile trying not to laugh.
I just stood there grinning at Meagan's confused expression on her face.

Just as I was about to answer my last question, the bell rang.
"Okay the questions that you haven't finished are for homework and due back next lesson." Our English teacher instructed us.
Everyone stormed out of the classroom. I was about to walk out when someone grabbed my wrist and pulled me back.
I looked up to see an annoying familiar face looking at me with lust in his hazel eyes.
"Happy birthday Layla, do I get a birthday kiss from you this year?" Jay asked me, trying to flirt.
"Don't even try Sullivan" I said pulling back my wrist out of his grip.
"Why not?" He tried asking innocently.
"You know I don't like you so piss off." He was really getting on my nerves now.
He put his hands around my waist and spun me around as I tried my second attempt to walk out the door.
I slapped his face as hard as my hands could "YOUR SUCH A FREAKIN JERK!" I said as I spun on my heel and stormed off.
When I looked back he was still holding his cheek where I slapped him.
What a sook.
Okay so I overreacted a bit, well not a bit. A LOT. But you would overreact too if his been doing this for the past two years. It gets annoying okay?
Just as I turned back around to face where I was going I crashed into a wall.
A wall in the middle of the locker hallway? I looked up to see Tristan laughing at me. His blue-green eyes lighting up as he laughs hysterically.
"It's not funny" I said jokingly
"You should've seen you face'" he said in between the fits of laughter.
I rolled my eyes as he unexpectedly pulled me into a hug.
How I missed his warm safe hugs. "I missed you and your clumsiness" he said
"Thanks, I feel the love"I said sarcastically.
"Of course you do" he said breaking away from the hug.
Of course I do. I've always loved him.
