4. How could he?

Regular Day. Regular morning. Regular routine.

After yesterday, I don't know what my feelings are towards Adam. I haven't forgotten what he has done in the past. But I can't hold it against him. Good people sometimes do bad things. As in after all that I've done ; for him to still have a crush on me. WOW.

I walk up to his locker. He takes no notice of me. I only hear him whisper half a dozen words.
"Meet me at lunch. Science lab."
I like his ways. He makes you feel like you're a somebody in a nobody world. Mysterious. But pleasing.

I'm still curious to why Tiffany hasn't said anything to me about what happened in the boys' changing room. I don't think she mentioned it to Josh either. Something's up and it's up to me find out.

It's break time. I see James in the corner of the playground near the sports hall, just a distance from Seleste and her idiot minions, also close to Fluer and her crew . When I say playground, I mean grass, trees and maybe a few ponds. I approach him and he takes a step back.
" If you're wondering, Josh isn't here."
"Why is it that whenever I come to you, you think that it's Josh that I'm looking for?"
"Well I know that you have a crush on him and everything and he's my brother so you know..." he tries to avoid eye contact with me, by facing away and looking at the ground. But I move to where he turned his face and lift his head up. But he yanks his head back to the floor.
"What's your deal? Looks like you've got some information in you that you wish you hadn't." I say with a smile. He immediately faces me with his green eyes glistening in the sunshine.

He looks at me intensely with the eyes to say how do you know.
" I know that look anywhere. You can't fool the master of it!" He smiles at my comment.
"Aren't you gonna share!" I say with a cheeky smirk.
"Fine. But tell no one."

.......

"Why would anyone betray their brother like that!"
"I dunno! But you can't tell him or else both of my both of them would kill me. I wasn't even supposed to know. No one was. But I caught them one time."

Lunchtime.

I sit on a bench underneath the shade of the oak tree near the science lab ; waiting for Adam's arrival.
He finally shows up.
"Skooch!"
"Hello would be nice!" I scold, frowning while making space for him.

The sunlight bouces onto the tree, sending a blinding ray shooting our way, which kinda sets the mood. All of a sudden, I see his hazel eyes in a fixed gaze with mine as we shuffle together. Closer... and closer...and even closer. Until we lean in.

and...

James ruins the moment ?!...
"Adam. Can me and Jess have a moment?"
"Sure." He says with a hint of disappointment.

He pulls me to an abandoned spot on the playground for more privacy. I think?! His fist clenching my fist like a begar to money.

"Chill!" I say struggling to keep up with his pace and trying to release myself from his grasp.

He shows no mercy.

You know those people who when they have been betrayed by a trusted friend go by all means to let their anger and frustration out, so much that it goes out of control and needs someone to put him back in his place. James is one of those.

He throws me on the ground like a piece of rubbish. Roughly and without care.

"How did Josh get to know? - " He hadn't finished his sentence when he was interrupted by the sound of foosteps approaching. Then Adam tapped James on the shoulder and punched him when he had turned round. I felt bad being there while it happened and seeing James fall. But I knew it had to be done.

Who could have told Josh?
