Since this is my first blog I decided to start writing it on a holiday. The Forth of July. Now all of you Americans(like myself) should know that the Fourth of July is a holiday celebrating the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence that was in 1776. Now one thing that is surprising is that THREE presidents died on the Fourth of July. John Adams( the second president) and Thomas Jefferson(the third president) died on July 4, 1826 within hours of each other. James Monroe( the fifth president) died in 1831. One of the weird things is John Adams thought that Americans would celebrate on July second instead of July the fourth.
Another weird thing is that Yankee Doodle, a patriotic song in the United States, was sung by the British military officers who mocked the "Yankees" with who they fought during the French and Indian war.
Some weird things is that on the fourth of July Americans eat 150 million hot dogs and spend about eleven million dollars on popsicles and charcoal. And the Caesar salad was supposably created on July fourth, said by chef Caesar Cardini's daughter. Also, in 1784 Benjamin Franklin wrote his daughter a letter saying that he was displeased that the bald eagle was chosen as the symbol for America and that he would rather want a turkey because it is far more respectable and courageous. The last but not least fact of fourth of July is that we Americans spend seven hundred percent more on fireworks than we did thirty-five years ago, but injuries are down ninety percent.
So there ya go and I hope it wasn't too boring for ya. I know that it's just boring information but all of my other blogs will be WAY different. I just wanted to start off with a fact blog since it's fourth of July and hopefully if you decided that you wanted to take the time to read that you learned something!
