"Ma'am please! There's nothing we can do right now!"
"I don't give a shit! I paid hundreds for this ticket and now you're telling me I can't see my family on Christmas?"
"Ma'am I'll let you know if we have anything that becomes available but for now-"
"Oh fuck off" I snapped at the stick insect working behind check in, before stamping angrily over to a free seat, muttering curse words under my breath. I stuffed my face into my hands, leaning onto my knees before letting out a muffled scream.
"Are you alright?" I turned my head to see a blonde boy sat next to me looking quite concerned.
"Does it look like I'm fucking alright?" Ignoring my rude response he carried on
"Where you heading?"
"England, hopefully but at this rate I won't even get there for new year"
"I'm going-" the stranger started before a loud speaker announcement cut him off
"Due to storms and contact signal failures, all flights have been delayed until further notice. Please contact any member of staff if you have questions or concerns"
Once the announcement ended there was silence for around three seconds as it sunk in that no one would be home or seeing their families by Christmas. When all of a sudden everyone starts shouting and swearing as though it's the airports fault, I'm not one to miss out on a good fight, so I willingly join in.
"Fucking bitch yeah I have questions!" I stand up and was about to head over to my good pal working over at check in when this stranger obviously got my drift and pulled me back to my seat
"Don't make it worse" he said calmly
"Who even are you?" I pulled my wrist out of his grasp
"I'm Ross and you?"
"Olivia" I spoke suspiciously
"Well Olivia, I can't get you a flight home but I can get you a coffee?"
