“Hello, my name is Devon. I will be your waiter this evening. Can I start you off with a glass of wine?”  A handsome man handed sat us down in a secluded part of the restaurant, per Cole. I think he wanted to be alone with me, but it also could have been his hesitance to be too much in public.

“Yes Devon, we will have a bottle of Merlot.” Cole answered with ease.

“Of course. I will need to see your ID.” He turned to me. I blushed and looked at Cole.

“Thank you.” He smiled and walked away. I cocked an eyebrow and put my menu down.

“What just happened?”

“I glamoured him. In his mind, you showed him your identification.” He answered, glancing at the menu.

I became nervous. “You haven’t done that to me right?” I asked, setting my menu down.

“Well, you wouldn’t know then would you?” he smirked leaning over the table. “For all you know, we’ve gone way farther than some kissing, and you just don’t remember because I made you forget…” he whispered. I stood, angry.

“I’m kidding, sit down.” He murmured and I sat.

“I can’t do that to you. It’s part of the whole soulmate thing.” I could tell he wasn’t happy, but I was satisfied.

“So what do you want?” I answered without looking.

“A double bacon cheeseburger with cheese and bacon fries and a chocolate shake.” I picked at my nails. I heard Cole laugh and I looked up. “What?”

“Well if you keep eating like that we may have to buy you a whole new wardrobe.”

“Don’t be jealous that my metabolism is more advanced than yours.” I snickered at his face.

“Vampires don’t have metabolisms. We don’t need it. Our body burns the food we eat instantly. It’s more for pleasure than sustenance.” Devon came back with two glasses of wine.

“Have you decided what you would like, or should I give you a few more minutes?” Cole gave him my order, then ordered himself a steak…very raw.

“Hear is some bread and I will have your orders out momentarily.” Devon placed a basket of bread and butter in front of us. I snatched a roll quicker then a vampire I was so hungry!

“Wow…” I saw Cole’s shocked face and smiled.

“Don’t get in the way of my food.” I murmured, biting into the warm roll.

“So when can I call my mom?” I asked, swallowing.

“Tomorrow. After the date.” He said. His eyes swept the room before leaning in. “You look very appetizing tonight.” He whispered. His voice was rough.

“What is that, some kind of weird vampire pick up line?” I asked.

“Yeah. They teach it to us in the Vampire Academy.” He smiled. His teeth were normal; it was hard to imagine them sharp and deadly. My neck ached at the thought.

“So does your face change like it did that first night all the time?” I looked down when I asked, afraid my question would anger him.

“No. That transformation only happens when we lose all self-control. I haven’t lost it in over three centuries, but when I saw you that first night, my instincts just took over.” He took my hands in his and I pulled away but he gripped them. “Come on, it’s supposed to be a real date. If you want to make that call you have to do all the things you normally would on a date.” He smirked.
