I stood outside the dressing room in the back of the gigantic clothing store. I shifted uncomfortably back and forth on my feet. "Does this look okay?" My friend Alexa asked, shoving out of the dressing room.

She was wearing a dark, almost maroon colored dress. The dress contrasted with her bright yellow hair that fell down her body until it hit her hips. Her brown eyes looked at me impatiently and she placed a hand on her hip. "Um, Earth to Del." She snapped, clearly exasperated. "Yes, Alexa, it looks fine, just like all the dresses you've tried on." I pointed towards the pile of dresses hanging over the top of the dressing room door.

Alexa rolled her eyes at me. "It's my eighteenth birthday, I have to look gorgeous!" Alexa gushed, disappearing back into the dressing room. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. I remember when Alexa told me her birthday plans for the first time.

"I wanna go out to a club!" Alexa bursted, grasping my hands in hers. I stared at her in disbelief and exchanged questioning glances with Megan. She was my friend since the beginning of highschool, when Alexa (who I met a year earlier) introduced me to her during freshman year of high school. All three of us were extremely close, being best friends since freshman year.

"Don't you think that is a amazing way to spend a birthday?" Alexa giggled, releasing one of my hands and grabbing Megan's. "You do realize we are underage, right?" I asked, feeling nervous about the idea. Megan nodded in agreement with my question. "But, your brother isn't, my brother isn't, they can get us in." Alexa said, dismissing my concerns, with a flamboyant wave of her hand. "If you think Harry is going to help his baby sister get into a club, underage, you're actually insane." I laughed.

My brother, Harry, was the typical overprotective brother. But we were extremely close. Alexa blushed and let go of my hand. "You're no fun!" She whined. "Well, since it's my birthday, I'll figure out all the details," Alexa pointed to herself and puffed her chest, "You guys just have to show up." Megan and I exchanged skeptical looks. "Please, you guys are my best friends and I can't celebrate alone!" Alexa threw herself back on the bed, flopping down dramatically."Please!" She whined, rolling around childishly.

"Fine, just shut up!" Megan groaned, but I could see the excitement in her eyes about the idea. "And you, Del?" Alexa picked her head up to look at me. "Okay." I sighed, going against my better judgement. Alexa squealed loudly, grabbing Megan and myself in a hug. "We need to go dress shopping!" Alexa exclaimed. I could see Megan start to bounce when Alexa mentioned shopping.

Now I was sitting outside the dressing rooms, waiting for Alexa and Megan to pick a dress. "Are you sure you don't want to get a dress, Del?" Alexa exited the dressing room, holding the first dress she tried on. "I like this one the best." Alexa said, running her fingers over the sparkled fabric. Alexa had insisted on trying on other dresses, but I knew she was already in love with the silver and black tribal dress. It was form fitting and showed off Alexa's petite frame.

Megan walked out of the dressing room, sporting a black, cutout dress. The dress was tight around the bust then flared out at the waist, the top had a black strip covering her chest, and the rest of the bodice was mesh. Her tan skin showed out of the mesh and ended about mid-thigh. "I love this dress." Megan moaned, spinning around slowly to show off the intricate lacing going down the back of the dress. The black dress accented the pastel pink dyed strands of Megan's hair.

"It's amazing!" Alexa squealed. Megan looked at me and raised an eyebrow. "Where's your dress, Delaney Mitchell?" she teased, pointing to my shopping bags from another store. "The laundry, you just missed the fashion show." I shot back, pulling a sarcastic grin onto my face. Megan laughed and turned back into the dressing room. Megan loved to tease me about my hatred for dresses. I never liked the constricted feeling I got whenever I wore dresses.

Finally we paid and left the store. As we walked to my car, Alexa grabbed my wrist. "Are you going to the football game tonight?" She asked, wrapping her other arm through Megan's looped arm. "Do I have to?" I whined. Megan smiled and looked at me. "I don't wanna go either, but we are on invitation duty." Megan used her fingers to make a gun and pretended to shoot herself through the forehead. I smothered my laugh as Alexa glared at her.

"How many people are you inviting?" I asked. "Well, I'm having two parties." Alexa explained, already forgetting Megan's offense, "A small one at the bar, and a house party the next weekend." I nodded. "Only ten people are invited to the bar, the house party is come one, come all." Alexa giggled, shifting her shopping bag from hand to hand.

We finally reached the car and I bent into the driver's seat. "Do we have any assigned DD's? I asked, waiting for Alexa to settle in the back of the car. Megan scoffed at my question and I playfully smacked her shoulder. "I have two confirmed right now, but we need one more." Alexa sighed. Alexa became quiet and i knew what she was thinking.

"You want me to be a DD." I stated, peering at Alexa through the rearview mirror. Alexa nodded shyly. "Fine." I said. Alexa instantly perked up, "Thank you!" She gushed. Megan patted me on the shoulder, "Brave soldier." she whispered. I rolled my eyes at them and pulled out of the mall parking lot. Someone had to be the designated driver, and I didn't like to drink much anyway.

"Drop us off at the shoe store, my brother is there to take us home." Alexa said, pointing at the shoe store up ahead. "Unless you want to come shoe shopping with us." Alexa smiled at me and poked my shoulder. "I already have my outfit done, and plus, Harry is expecting me home, It's my turn to make dinner tonight." I smiled back at her and pulled into the shoe store parking lot.

"Have fun, don't impale yourself with a high heel." I cooed as Megan and Alexa exited my car. "Watch out for pumps looking for blood." I teased again. Megan laughed and shook her head at me as she closed the door. "We'll pick you up at seven for the football game." Alexa rushed, scooting across the seat to follow Megan. Alexa waved goodbye to me and grabbed Megan's hand. Alexa dragged Megan into the store, then they disappeared behind the sliding glass doors.
