Lucy the Seeker

Chapter #1- The Beginning

My name is Lucy Evergreene, I'm 17 years old, I live in a small town in northern Illinois. I'm not anything special, I'm not one of those girls that is on the cheer squad, on the softball team, not apart of the drama students, or anything like that. Not many people notice me, I'm almost invisible. Not that I really care that much, I don't get bullied which is good for my high school years.

But I do have a few friends that I've known since we were toddlers. Theres Katia, the musician. Hailey, the smart ass. Logan, the quiet one. And my best friend, Madison, she is the loud outgoing one. We always have fun no matter what we are doing.

But recently, my mom found out that my dad has been cheating, and he blames it on my mom's drug abuse. But he shouldn't be the one to talk, since I caught him doing cocaine a while back. I guess you could say that my family has always been broken. I have never gone to my parents for anything, unless I was terribly sick; but even then I hesitated.

I haven't heard from my dad since he left, he couldn't give a shit about me. All he ever cared for was his drugs and his crackhead whore of a girlfriend. My mom never cared either, since dad left she has been out every single night doing drugs. And she only comes home to shower and eat. I try to avoid her, because I became her punching bag. She says " If you were never born, I wouldn't have to stay with your fucking father for 16 years!" Haha, what a bitch. But I basically live at Madison's house. I come there whenever I need the company, and actually I go to her parents more than she does. My friends really should be grateful for their 'perfect' families.

The next day I went to school, it was an ordinary day. I have Katia in first hour Gym. We did absolutely nothing. Except for eat breakfast burritos from Mcdonalds. Our gym teacher Mrs. Chambers really hated us, for doing nothing. But I didn't give a fuck, I had nothing in my future that had to do with running laps.

Second period, was my literature class. I loved this class so much, I got all A's on all my stories I've wrote and all my tests.

Third, was science with Madison, she was a science geek for sure, I sucked so as my best friend, she let me copy her work.

Fourth, was Algebra 2 with Logan, we wouldn't really listen to the teacher and just talk. But I'm amazing at math. So I help her if she ends up missing the lesson.

Fifth, was lunch, our school has open campus so we went to the hills across the street, and ate our sandwiches.

" Hey guys! We should have a sleepover sometime!" Madison, suggested

" That sounds like a good idea, we haven't done that in forever!" I agreed

" I work until next Saturday" Katia said.

"Yeah me too" Logan said.

"I have nothing going on. So anytime is fine." Hailey said

" Next Saturday then?" Madison asked, we all nodded.

I couldn't wait, it's been so long since we all had a sleepover together.

The rest of the day went by very slowly, and I dreaded going home. Even if the 'Big Bitch' isn't there. As I was walking home, I had the strangest feeling, it was almost like I was being watched. I became very paranoid, I looked in every direction around me. Nothing. I just sped up my pace, and I was home under 10 minutes.

As I walked in, I saw my mom laying on a couch with some random man. A sour smell pierced my nostrils.

" Oh god! What the fuck?" I exclaimed covering my nose with my sweatshirt. The man bolted up from his sleep.
