Chapter 2: Jason. One Year Later Minnie had been acting really weird around me lately. I mean I know she looks at other guys behind my back, but I pretend I don't. I love her too much to even think about her dating anyone else. She's been doing the weirdest things. We never hide anything from eachother and the past few weeks she's been closing her phone and hiding it whenever I walk up and having these weird whisper-yelling conversations when she thinks I can't hear. When your girlfriend starts doing that, you know she's shutting you out. God, I just wish there wasn't so much drama when it came to her. There's always got to be something wrong or something tragic happening to her. It's really getting tiring.
So here I am, sitting in my car, hoping to god she doesn't walk out of her house wearing something that she knows is going to cause drama. Nervously, I start tapping my steering wheel until I see her come out. Wow. For once it didn't look like she was trying to be a slut. She skipped down the steps of her house and kissed her mom, which is something I'd never seen her do and grinned at me. This is the least amount of skin I'd ever seen her show. She wore jeans and an admittedly low cut top but that was actually a pretty big step.
"Hey beautiful," I said as she hopped into my car and gave me a kiss. She's never this nice. There has got to be something going on.
"Happy birthday, babe," she replied handing me a bottle of vodka with a ribbon around it and a box that said "later" on it. "Well, are we going or not?"
She looks so beautiful. I honestly love her. She's doing this for you I thought. She isn't going to be a slut tonight. She is going to be with you and only you. Just keep telling yourself that and it might come true.
"Jason!" Crap, I was staring. I just need to focus and relax. Most of the people going tonight are my best friends so I don't think anyone would try anything with her. I'll ask Todd to keep an eye on her.
"Yeah I'm going," I said. And from there, we headed to hell.

"Sooooo," Minnie said as we got out of the car, "What do you think is going to happen tonight?"
"Hopefully, a miracle," I said with a smile grabbing her hands and pulling her towards me. She beamed into my eyes as I reached down to kiss her. "Are you ready for this?"
"You have no idea," she replied. "I really, REALLY think you are going to like my present." She winked and pulled me up to the house.
I have to admit, when Todd wants something to go all out he really makes it go all out. There were streamers and bottles already covering the lawn and sides of the house with a girl puking in the bushes and music booming from the house. It almost scared me.
Then something hit me.
"Hey, Minnie?" I began, "Who's going to be here?"
She froze. Oh, god she's going to take this the wrong way.
"If you want to know if SHE is going to be here youmight as well just say it," She accused. "It almost seems like you WANT her to be here." She turned and crossed her arms waiting for some kind of response out of me.
Shit.
"I-er, I, well, of course I want her to be here!" I said completely confidently. My confidence did drop a bit when her usual bitchy face came back and looked like she was going to crack one of my nuts. "She's my friend, its my birthday, friends come to my birthday, and I want ALL of them to get along and play nice," I said as if I was explaining it to a kindergartener as I grabbed her arm and pulled her towards the insane, alcohol filled house. My girlfriend was going to accept my ex-girlfriend if it killed me.
