1st grade.
Her dad was else where.
In Ohio.
Her mom took her when she was 7 to move to California with her parents who were there.
Her mom went to the hospital.
She didn't know why, but it was for drugs.
Her dad got her mom addicted.
Time after time of her dad hurting her mom, her mom still went back.
She stilled loved him.
He pushed her into glass
Cheated on her.
Left her on lonely nights and didn't appear until 4 days later.
Hit her.
Some nights, he just lost it and yelled at her sisters and her brother.
The little girls memory was filled with images of her parents snorting white powder off of their desk with dollar bills.
Her dad hurting her mom.
Her dad yelling at her sisters.
She was terrified.
She was so little.

4th grade
She was in the library with her class.
She was looking at this book, that she was never going to read.
She turned around and saw a boy.
Dorky haircut.
Brown hair.
Brown eyes.
And way taller.
She walked up to him, and his parents that were standing with them.
"Hi, I'm Gabriella!" She said all perky.
He looked terrified.
But she knew he was only nervous.
His parents talked instead
"This is uh, Jake." His dad said pointing and the little boy.
Jake stepped out from behind his dad, and smiled at Gabriella.
She smiled back.
She didn't know what it was, she was so little but yet was drawn to him.
Little girl crush? I think so. So did she.

Gabriella got home.
She walked from her elementary school because, it wasn't even a half a mile away.
She dropped off her backpack and ran up the street.
She had neighbors there.
They were younger.
And they were twins.
Named "Haley, and Adam".
When she got up there she noticed something.
There was a little boy.
She ran faster.
It was him.
Jake.
She ran up to him.
The both smiled at each other.
They played for hours
Gabriella, Jake, Haley, and Adam.
Baseball, football, hide and go seek tag, and kick ball.
They played until 7pm, that's when everyone went in for dinner and did homework.

Everyday they would do that.
They would talk at school.
Go out to eat with family together
They got so close they even spent the night at each others house night, after night, after night.
They did everything together.
Jake's family loved her like their own.
Gabrielle's family adored Jake.
Jake loved her.
