Chapter 5 - The escape Plan

I happily spent the next week or so playing along with this little game we had going on. I was especially enjoying watching, Keith; get more anxious with every passing day. I would give nothing away, tell, Chris, nothing about my past so that he wouldn’t get his share of money. This was getting pretty interesting, even; Ellie was giving me interesting looks as if she could stare the answers out of me. Though they had no Idea of my plans to escape on, Snow when the timing was right.

Last night, I heard, Chris and, Keith arguing over me. I was in my room, listening through the door, like I usually do and I had to fight against the smile that was trying to stretch its way across my face. It first started off with, Keith asking why, Chris, still never found out anything about me yet and, Chris remaining silent. Then, Keith raised his voice and asked the same thing again. I could hear, Chris whispering something that was barely loud enough for me to hear and then, Bang!, which must have meant that, Keith, had hit, Chris, with something hard… or maybe his hand is as hard as stone. I did feel sorry for, Chris, but there was no way that I was going to give up that easily.

The next day, me and, Chris, went out with the horses again. Just to our usual spot, it was nice there and the horses liked the water of the lake. I carelessly let myself fall onto the soft, lush grass and heaved a sigh as I stretched out. Chris, laughed at me as he led the two horses over to the lake so that they could drink if they wanted too, but something in his voice had changed, he wasn’t like his usual self.

“What’s up?” I asked, truly concerned.

“Huh?... nothing much.” He replied dully.

“C’mon, I know something isn’t right… I heard your father being a total ass to you last night. Are you worried that he hit you?”

“How did you know?” He replied, seeming shocked at what I’d said.

“I thought you already knew about my excelling eavesdropping nature by now.” I replied menacingly.

“And what did I tell you at the time?”

“Yeah, yeah, whatever… anyway, don’t let him get the better of you. You gotta show him whose boss here. I’ve been watching him recently y’know, I’ve seen him getting more and more restless as the days pass.” I replied smiling at my victory.

“You’re playing a very dangerous game, Cadence; you don’t know what he’s capable of.”

“Hmm? Well, I know that he’s out for revenge. If that’s what you mean?”

When he never replied I sighed again and let my head rest on the grass. It was nice to just close my eyes and listen to the horses playing with each other, having mini races and wrestling. I could feel, Chris, lie down beside me, finally relaxing a bit more. I opened my eyes and looked over to my side and saw that he was looking right back at me. He gave me one of his angelic smiles but his eyes were telling a different story. I could see that he was more upset than I thought he would be about what happened last night. To be honest, I was beginning to get really peeved off at, Keith, I mean, noone should be mean to angels - not even cute, handsome, great kissing ones.
