It started as I was finishing primary school, we were beginning our induction into high school with an 'Orientation Day'.
I was nervous which wasn't all that unusual to me, but my hands began to sweat as I stepped into the car. The whole drive, they were in this state.
I couldn't bare the feeling so, I found myself constantly wiping them in frustration and worry.
With a quick glance my brother who was driving noticed the signs of anxiety and says "don't worry, you're not going to be the only one". I frowned, my sweating brows, confused as he continues, "I bet everyone there is just as nervous as you are. Just remember, confidence is key".
That was something he always told himself, especially when doing his hair, during his morning pep talk.
Just over ten minutes later, we finally arrive at the school. In the distance, I see a huge crowd of people all in smaller clicks from their own schools, although I can't see mine..
Interrupting my ponder, my brother Max. The one that drove me switches from kind, right back to himself and says with a bit of a chuckle "It might help if you cross the road and enter the prison, I don't know though but you might have a better view from it here".
He's annoying most of the time as older brothers are, but caring in his own bizarre ways. "I know", I say as we both around the car to hug goodbye.
I wait at the crossing for his car to pass before I continue across the road and into the school, where I did in fact have a better view.
After about two minutes of searching, which felt like two hours of steel butterfly stomach-churning madness. I found some people. Hah, sorry let me rephrase, a person, i found someone.
A grin that I couldn't hide was plastered on my face, it's okay though, because she had done the same.
"Hi" says a familiar voice from a girl who's quite popular at my school. I'm not quite sure of her name. I don't really associate with people in my year. Putting all this all aside, I manage to say "hello".
We talk a little, about this and that. Soon realising that we have to enter the hall that everyone has been hovering around, she ends the conversation by saying "my name's Viola, Viola Sima".
