The streets were buzzing with cars and people on this busy night. Everyone were either buying last minute groceries or going to their New Year's Eve. events.
I was stuck at work.
Luckily, it wasn't all night. The owner was nice enough to let me close up the shop at 10 p.m.
Ten minutes till closing time. I kept repeating to myself to motivate myself. No one walked in the last two hours, and I was really tempted to close right now. I decided to do so, reaching for the keys.
The chilly air hit my bare hands, as I fumbled with the keys and lock. That was all we had here in Texas during this time of the year, chilly air. No snow. Well at least here in the small town of Raiden Hill.
This place wasn't much, but I loved it. I worked at a small book store located on a small street, not many people passed by. It wasn't a 'bad' neighborhood, it was actually quite and calm. I liked it here, where not much happened.
I let a sigh of relief once I finally locked the door. We didn't get snow, but the air was cold enough to make us miss the summer air.
I silently kicked a small rock on the pavement as I made my way towards my apartment. It wasn't far from here, that's the reason I walked.
I had gotten a little distracted as I reached for my phone on my back pocket, when I suddenly end up tripping over some legs.
That's odd.
As I looked down, a body was seen slightly emerging from the darkness of the street. I was covering the light being given off from the light post.
Moving slightly to the left, I allowed the light to shine on the person. A male to be precise.
Oddly enough, he seemed familiar. I knew it wasn't safe to take a look, but I had to make sure if he was okay or not. Bending my knees to get a closer look, he mumbled a few words.
"Hey, mhm... hey. Are you okay?" My voice came out fragile, instead of strong and confident.
"Girls aaa-rree.... ALL the same!" He slurred, anger tainting his words. Honestly, I was more scared now then before. He was really angry and I was terrified he would hurt me.
"Do you need any help?" My voice came out small. It was ten at night, the streets were dark and empty. A few cars once in a while, but not on this street that I was on.
"Why help me? So you could back stab me next? Is tha-"
"I'm only asking to help. It's fine if you don't want me to." A scowl formed on my face. He finally looked right at me. For once.
Aiden?
I knew he looked familiar.
