As the night sky faded away and the Pirates long gone, Eric and the others came out of the chambers and went outside. Through the main gates of castle, on to the city and it was horrifying.

There were hundreds of innocent men and women crying over the death of their loved ones, houses brought to the ground, dead bodies piled up in different places and cries of agony all around Asmorath.

Vivian tried to stop the young prince from witnessing such horror, but he refused to stay inside the castle walls like a child.
His fists clenched as he was roaming through the valley of death. One or two tear drops came down his cheeks but quickly wiped it with his fists still clenched as he believed that the potential leader and a Viking warrior should never show weakness in front of his subjects.

They walked down to the shores of Asmorath and gazed at the scenery of the sun rising. A ship was to be seen sailing towards the island.

This time it was a Viking ship that was sailing and Eric and the others recognized it immediately.

It was Haraldstorm Bloodaxe, the leader of the proud Vikings, the wielder of the Battle-Axe of Odin and the father of young Eric Bloodaxe.

Harald and his brother had gone to discover new breeding grounds for their livestock at the time of the siege and had got the message of the pirate invasion through a messenger crow sent by one of the Generals.

The ship anchored and the king rushed on to the shores and saw Eric standing there hopelessly for his father's arrival.

Eric rushed to the comfort of his father and hugged him so tight as if his father has been gone forever.

"It's ok my son, don't worry I'm here now" said the king calmly.
"Vivian! Where is the queen?".
Vivian didn't know what to say. Eric replied breaking down in tears.

"THEY KILLED HER! THEY ARE MURDERES DAD!"

The king paused for a while. He couldn't believe what his son just said. He turned to Vivian for confirmation. Vivian shook her head to say yes. He carried Eric and looked towards the city. Heavy smoke filled the entire Asmorath sky.
"Not only they stole the Power gem but also killed my wife. This is an act of war. We should act immediately to this."

Sabretooth, the brother of Haraldstorm replied,

"Now is not the time for revenge. All out troops are damaged. We are in no shape to go to war with pirates."

But it was too late. Harald had already made up his mind. There was no stopping him.
"Dad, please don't go after that man. He is very dangerous. He killed mom just to show you what would happen to you if you go after him in search of revenge! Please don't leave me father, you are the only family I have!" pleaded the young prince with eyes full of tears.

"No son! If a man threatens your family, you don't just stand there and wait for him to continue. You fight for them. Family comes first in every situation. I loved your mother more than anything in the world and now shes dead. And the man who killed her is just lurking on some land enjoying his kill. He killed my wife just to prove a point and I'm not going to just do nothing", said the king with vengeful eyes staring down at is son.

"I am going to kill him. Even if it is the last thing I do".

They all returned to the castle through the fallen city. On the way, Eric tried to convince his uncle, Sabretooth, to try and stop him from going on this suicide mission.

"Uncle, please try to tell dad not to do this! Please, I beg of you!"

Sabretooth replied,

"I tried son, but he just won't listen. If sets his mind on something, he goes at it with every ounce of strength he has. It's too late son, there is no stopping your father".

Eric tried to convince Vivian to tell his dad but it was pointless. He hopelessly waited till the next day where his father embarked on a journey of no return.
