The ginger hair touches his face and sends shivers down his spine. The scent of vanilla feels the air. He looks down at the person and sees that it's his ex girlfriend. Eric's heart skips a beat as he tries to register what is going on. The pieces aren't fitting in the puzzle leaving everything foggy and uncertain.

"Eric," she says her eyes filling with tears.

Eric doesn't say anything. He just stares at her with what seems like a blank expression.

"I came here to see you. I wanted to tell you that I am so sorry."

Memories begin to flood back in his head.

"Eric I'm sorry but it's over. I found someone else."

"Some one else? but we are supposed to get married. "

"I know but we can't, " Karen says taking the ring off her finger and putting it in Eric's hand and walking away.

Eric stands there for hours in disbelief. The air begins to smell like rain. Droplets of water begin to fall from the clouds. Each leaving a trace on his skin and then slowly fading away as if nothing had been there.

All the good memories that had occurred were now corrupted.

"We were supposed to get married, " he says quietly.

"Eric, " she says looking at him pleading. "I was wrong. I shouldn't have left you. I was stupid and didn't realize you were the one until it was too late...

Her voice is now barely audible over the noise above and beneath them.

"Say something "

"What am I supposed to say? "

"Do you not love me?"

"Of course I love you. I just didn't expect us to meet in this predicament.

The ground beneath them begins to give and crumble.

"We need to get of here." Eric says to Karen.

They run as fast as they can dodging the fiery balls, but they aren't running fast enough. The smell of burnt skin and tissue feels their nostrils. The stench getting worse every second.

"I know our time is almost up, " Eric says looking at Karen. Karen stops and looks at him. He brushes back her hair.

"Will we meet again? " She asks.

"Yes in another life," he says grabbing hold of her hands. Her face has scratches all over it and little specks of blood begin trickling down her face. The heat increases and the pain begins to enter their bodies. Inviting themselves in without invitation. As the pain spreads though their bodies, Eric looks at her face one last time before everything turns white. He then gets a feeling in the pit of his stomach that this was not mother natures doing. It was done by a some one, someone powerful. He will not stop until he figures out what caused this place to become flames.
