Another year had come and gone. A lot had happened. Mid-terms were over, and it was winter break.
Another year had passed. And Eko would be ending it single.
It wasn't such a big deal, Eko wasn't looking for a guy - well that wasn't completely true, she liked someone, but he would never like her, and that was fine. Kind of.
The New Years Party she had decided to attend was somewhat of a mess; it was just a bunch of drunk teenagers who, of course, would have no recollection of the night tomorrow. Just a hangover. Probably a really, really bad one.
A couple was being horny in the basement, most bedrooms were occupied; so was the bathroom, and everywhere else there were games of spin the bottle being played, not necessarily things Eko wanted to get involved in. That is not how she planned to start the new year. Sighing, she zipped up her coat, opened the front door, and walked out into the crisp night air.
If she'd known somebody else was out there, she wouldn't have even opened the door. "Are you serious, I came out here to be alone." He sounded annoyed.
Eko had only seen him, but he was someone everybody knew. Avi. Enough said. He was known, but not really liked in a crush kind of way; more girls liked his friend than him.
When he didn't hear anything, he turned to look who it was. Surprise crossed his face, but he covered it quickly enough that it was hard to detect. "I guess you're fine," he said, and turned back to where he was looking, out at the city lights.
Drunken slurs could be heard from inside the house, counting down from 37. Well, this is as happy a new year as I get, Eko thought. With a melancholy Avi who doesn't like me who maybe I like??? I don't know. He doesn't like me. Whatever. *Sigh*
10, 9... Eko was unintentionally counting down. 8, 7, 6, 5... She didn't notice him looking at her, or moving closer. 4, 3, 2 - She didn't hear herself mentally count the one, because a hand grabbed her neck.
And a pair of lips connected with hers.
"Happy New Year," he whispered.
