Silence Between Us [SeKai]

~ 13 ~

Kyungsoo looked over his shoulder when he heard bunch of boys screaming. He still couldn't understand why would they always pick on someone, who is way weaker than them. He turned back to Kai.

''Why would they do that to someone?'' Kyungsoo said, but didn't do anything else besides that. Everyone who interfered with them risked their own existence. Kyungsoo knew that very well, he was once their victim as well...

Kai turned around. He was horrified at the sight. Why were these guys pulling at the boy's arm? Kai's eyes only widened more when one of them kicked the boy in the stomach.

Kai moved towards them, to stop them from hurting the boy, but Kyungsoo stopped him when he caught his wrist. Kai turned around to see Kyungsoo, but his gaze kept on slipping back to those boys who still kept on abusing the poor boy behind the fence.

Kyungsoo realised that Kai completely ingnored his retort and decided to stand in front of him. He took his face into his hands, making younger boy look at him. ''Jongin, I'm your senior at this school. And I'm telling you, don't mind them. They will hurt you as well in the end...''

''But this is not right, that boy is hurt...'' Kai looked ever Kyungsoo's shoulder. When he discerned beautiful featured of the boy, his brain stopped working for a while. He couldn't think straight and straight away ran to the bunch of bullies. ''I have to go, Kyungsoo. That's Sehun. I have to.'' With that, he pushed Kyungsoo aside and ran to help Sehun.

They let go of him, almost instantly when they heard Kai coming....

''Okay, take care of him for now. But we'll find you later.'' Tallest of the guys smirked at Kai as they walked away.

Kyungsoo stood there, still paralysed from the recent events. Kai just ran over, which seemed like he didn't even think. At first it seemed like he might consider Kyungsoo's words, but then when he saw the boy...

Kai must have known the boy. Sehun, Sehun. Kyungsoo remembered that Kai mentioned someone with such name, but he never really knew who that Sehun guy was, or what was their relationship. But now, when he saw Kai's reaction after seeing him, he could feel deep inside that he must have meant something to Kai. Something more than just a friend.

His suspicion was right. His heart pained when he saw how protectively Kai wrapped his long arms around the boy's body. He felt the tears welling up in his eyes. But now that he's seen those two together, he suddenly remembered how broken Kai was when he first entered this school. How often he mentioned Sehun in front of Kyungsoo, without mentioning the actual relationship they both shared.

Kyungsoo believed that Kai got over it, when he suddenly stopped talking about him. But seeing these two together, Kyungsoo saw, that Kai never got over it. He saw it clearly now, more clearly than ever before...

Kyungsoo let the tears fall. He knew in his heart, that falling for Kai would be a mistake. Yet, he fell in love with the boy who was still in love with someone else, but accepted to try... Kyungsoo liked him, because he was different. Good different. He was deaf, but he didn't want anyone else to know. So Kyungsoo only helped him as much as he could, to hide that secret. Helped him with all he could at school. But seeing them together, how Kai used sign language to Sehun. Kyungsoo realised that Sehun is important to him, forgetting about his secret, in order to talk to him. It was all against the rules that Kai set himself.

Kai pulled back from the embrace, looking around. He took Sehun's hand and dragged him further away to talk. Sehun's body was still really week, so Kai had to support him all the way.

When they came to a stop, Sehun looked up at Kai with tired but at the same time, happy expression on his face. Kai brushed loose strands of Sehun's hair out of his face, then he gently traced his nose with the tips of his fingers.
