0.4: THE NEW NORMALOFF TO THE RACES
LANA DEL REY
Bridgette unlike Oliver had never been to court before, not on her behalf or her brother's. Before the island he'd gotten into plenty of trouble that caused for a hearing in front of a judge but she'd never attend. Her mother called it "bad press" and she should in no way support his actions.
This however, was extremely different than Oliver peeing on a cop or harassing a paparazzi. Bridgette and Oliver were being brought back from the dead, not literally of course. The reason her and her brother were currently standing in front of a judge was in order to have their death certificates annulled.
"Can you tell us what happened?" Their lawyer asked them, directing the question at neither in particular.
Oliver began to speak for the both of them, his words easily crafted lies they'd morphed into telling over the past week. "There was a storm the boat went down. We were the only survivors our father didn't make it. I almost died. I thought that I had, cause we spent so many days on that life raft before we saw the island. When I reached I knew I was gonna have to live for Bridgette. I knew I couldn't leave her alone and I knew it's what my dad would have wanted. In those five years it was her and that one thought that kept me going."
The woman nodded then fixed her eyes on Bridgette. "Do you agree with what Mr. Queen just stated."
Bridgette nodded. "Yes, I do"
"Your honor we are requesting to evoke the death and ascension filed after Bridgette and Oliver's disappearance at sea aboard the Queen's Gambit five years ago. We will however not be requesting that of Robert Queen." The Lawyer took a minute to portray a look of sorrow. "The queen family is only entitled to so many miracles I'm afraid."
---------------------------
Bridgette followed Oliver and Tommy down the main staircase in the court house listening carefully to her mother's words. "Now on to the offices everyone is waiting to meet you there."
Bridgette looked to her brother to see his reaction only to find he was already looking uncomforted and in a way sorrowful, knowing what was coming next she took on the look herself.
Oliver paused and looked at Moria. "Uh mom that was a little bit heavier than I was expecting. Can we do that tomorrow?"
Mrs. Queen took the opportunity to peak at her daughter, who's gaze was fixed on her designer pumps and then at the sight she concluded her answer. "Of course take all the time you need."
Oliver thanked her and watched as she walked away with Walter in tow.
Tommy however wasn't as easily thrown by Oliver's lies. "Last week you couldn't wait to get to the company."
"Tommy I just spent five years away from civilization I wasn't exactly thinking straight."
Bridgette was just about to join the conversation when her gaze caught one of Laurel Lance and from Oliver's surprised face he had noticed her as well.
"Hi" he managed to get out.
Brudgette was not in the mood to silently suffer as Laurel Lance rambled on about whatever. Therefore Bridgette expressed her distaste by rolling her eyes. "Oh my god. I'm leaving." But before she could try Oliver had grabbed a hold of her arm. They had work to do and he knew if he let her leave now he wouldn't hear from her for hours.
