"Are you sure this is a good idea?" I ask for about the third time today.
"Of course I'm sure," replies my friend, Danielle, as she picks up a basket. "You ready?"
I nod at her but I'm still not too sure about what we're about to do. Ever since she broke up with her boyfriend Kyle two weeks ago she's been desperate to find someone new. Hence today's plans: a picnic at the skatepark.
She's absolutely sure she'll find someone today, but I can't help feeling a little uneasy about it."Then let's move," she cheers as she throws on a floppy hat and some shades.
We hurry out the door and start walking towards the park. Danielle's house is close enough to see it from her bedroom, and she often admits to watching some of the boys there as they skate.
We'd both assumed that in the short distance we had to travel, we wouldn't run into anyone we knew. Unfortunately, we were wrong.
Danielle was stopped motionless with her jaw dropped.
"Just ignore them," I say with a shaky voice and a hurried tone, eager to get away.
"That little-"
"Dani!" I shout to cut her off. "Let's just go."
I keep pushing her towards the park, and as soon as we're close enough to see the guys skating there she snaps out of it. Her signature pout is back, and she seems to have almost forgotten about just moments ago seeing Kyle walk towards us with a nameless blonde girl in his arms.
We stop at only a small distance away and she throws down the picnic rug effortlessly. Together we sit down and pull out the brownies and two bottles of lemonade.
As we nibble on chocolate brownies, consciously making sure we don't just stuff our faces, we watch as guys start to notice us and pull more tricks.
"Look over there," Danielle leans in and whispers to me, her finger pointed towards someone. "That's the one I've had my eye on."
She giggles a little when he looks our way, and I use the moment to take in his appearance.
He's quite tall, and has a light build with just a hint of a tan. His hair is black and pushed to the side. He's dressed in a singlet that shows off his arms and I can't help but get butterflies myself. No wonder Danielle likes him.
I can't make out much more than that because of the distance, but it wouldn't matter anyway as he turns to move closer to the half pipe.He skates down and I can't help but notice the way the wind blows back his hair.
When he gets to the other side he turns, trying to go back, but even I can notice that his balance is a little off. He only just makes it halfway before he falls off his skateboard and rolls to the side.
I unintentionally clasp a hand around my mouth, but Danielle is on it right away. She pulls her top lower, then heads over to help him up.
A/n: Not really sure if updates will be regular, or where this story will even go, just thought I'd have a bit of a play with a fic for another fandom :)
