I watch her extend a hand to him and pull him up. He brushes some dirt off himself and they talk for a brief moment before someone yells at them to move.
Danielle yells something vulgar right back at them, but the guy puts his hand on her shoulder, says something inaudible from my distance, and the two part.
She trudges back over to me and plonks herself down. I wait for her to take a sip of her lemonade before asking her, "so? What did he say?"
She huffs dramatically and rolls her eyes before she answers.
"He just said 'thanks mate' and then 'you better leave now, yeah'. He didn't even ask for my number."
I laugh at her while she sulks. As I look back up to where he was standing I notice him looking right at us.
"You might wanna stop the sulking," I warn her jokingly. "He's looking right at us."
Danielle immediately sits up straight and starts fixing her hair. I lightly shove her arm as she does so.
"Maybe he just didn't know I had a phone," she says as she pulls it out from her pocket to put it on display. I roll my eyes at her and stand up.
"I'm going to the bathroom, okay?" I tell her as she nods absentmindedly at me.
Just as I'm about to walk inside the small building I hear footsteps running up towards me. When I turn and look for who it is I'm met by the face of the guy we'd both been admiring.
"Hey," he says. "I'm Chris."
He gives me a small smile as I reply.
"Ally," I tell him and watch his smile grow."Could I, uh," he pauses to scratch the back of his neck. "Could I get your number?"
I glance quickly over to Danielle to find her still absorbed in her own phone.
I look back at him standing there nervously and tell him, "sure."His body instantly relaxes as he hands me his phone. I smile to myself lightly and type in my number before handing it back.
"Thanks," he says as he stands there awkwardly transferring his weight back and forth between his feet. Suddenly he stops and leans forward to give me a quick one armed hug, before running back to the half pipe.
I stand there in shock for a moment, before finally walking in to the bathroom.
When I'm finished I make my way back over to Danielle and sit down.
"What took you so long?" She asks as she puts her phone away.
I debate whether or not I should tell her that I was giving my number to the guy she likes, but soon decide against it because he'll probably never speak to me anyway.
"Oh," I start, unsure of what to actually tell her. "I just had to fix up my makeup a little before I came back."
She giggles at me and takes another brownie.
"Yeah I guess that's fair enough," she says taking a bite.
