I've seen you all crying
While holding his pale hand
As I take his vitals
My routine as planned.
I keep my face in check
Professionally sympathetic
No, I can't cry with you too
Must only be empathetic.
And I wish I could tell you,
I've been in your shoes before,
I've held a loved one's hand too
Without knowing what's in store.
But I hope you all know,
That I am also feeling for you
Behind these practiced actions
I've felt your pain too.
