Caleb's P.O.V

Nothing good ever happened on a rainy day.

It wasn't the dark, gloomy day that was annoying; nor was it the fact that everything else around me just seemed dead – it was the fucking rain ruining the suit I made my father's wife rent for me that was completely ruined just because I was taking my time to get to my car.

I didn't know why I was going in the first place. I didn't want to go. This was just going to open up a whole new can of worms that I didn't want to deal with.

"About freaking time you made it! We've been waiting here for almost half an hour!" Nora's angered voice echoed throughout the carpark just as my eyes made contact with her angered looking figure. It was pouring down so hard that I couldn't even tell if Jackson was beside her or if I was just seeing things.

The blurry figure moved the closer I got to it, and when Jackson spoke up, my doubts were cleared. "We're going to be late man. Everyone is already there. It's not cool."

I clenched my jaw in annoyance at the couple in front of me. "I don't want to go."

"Caleb-" Nora began.

I shook my head. "Save it. You know I wanted to be with her alone. There's going to be so many bloody people there now and it's not going to feel right. I didn't want it this way."

"You don't really have a choice now, do you? Come on. You're going in your own car anyway so you can leave any time you like." Nora tried reassuring me in a positive tone.

I didn't bother responding and got into my car to avoid the black suit from getting even more soaked. My interior was going to be ruined, but I wasn't going to think about it until after today was over and I could finally be at peace.

Just before I was about to pull out of my parked position, I remembered I had to go and pick up my little sister. Sighing in frustration, I picked up my phone and sent a quick text to Nora before speeding off.

I was already late, and there would be no doubt that everyone would be talking about the lack of my presence.

"Caleb!" Annie grinned once the car door opened and she hopped in.

"Hey Annie." I grinned at the small girl, relieved to see her face.

"You're running a little behind, don't you think?" Martha's face popped into the car to fasten the seatbelt around Annie's body.

"Mommy, I can do it myself!" She replied angrily, trying to pry the woman's hands away.

Martha laughed and stepped back. "Sorry pumpkin, I forgot."

I waited to hear the click of the seatbelt before speaking up. "Come on, we have to get going."

Martha gave me a concerned look. "Are you sure you should be driving? I can take you both if you like... or you should have asked one of your friends."
