"So, what do you want to go on first?" I asked, scanning the park.
"The swings! The swings!" he squealed, grabbing my hand and attempting to pull me to the swings. I carried him and placed him into the baby seat on the swing. He beamed at me when I went behind him and started to push. I didn't want to keep him in the park for too long, I mean, I wanted to go to other places with him.
"Come on now, Lucas, let's go somewhere else. Where else do you want to go?" I quizzed, thinking of an answer as well.
"Can we go to Aunty Peggy's house? I want to play with Charlie!" Lucas brightened up at the thought of playing wiith his one and only cousin, who was about ten years older than him.
"Sure, sweety, wherever you want," I replied, "Do you want to stay over there?" In response, Lucas nodded his head vigorously. This was a good idea for me also, as I needed someone to express my feelings towards; my older sister was the perfect person to talk to. I pulled Lucas carefully out of the baby seat and we made our journey back home.
We finally returned home after a trip to Starbucks, where Lucas and I had several hot chocolates. It kept us warm, so warm, in fact, that we had to take our jackets off. However, as soon as we exited Starbucks, the freezing wind hit us, making us instantly wear our jackets again.
"Mummy, what should I take?" Lucas questioned whilst I stuffed my pyjamas into my bag, along with the money.
"You just need your pyjamas," I replied, slinging my bag over my shoulder. He rushed into his bedroom and came back to me in no time at all.
"Here," he said proudly while he handed his pyjamas over to me, "Was I fast?"
After I crammed his pyjamas into my bag, I bent down to his level, ruffled his hair and replied, "You did it in less than five seconds!" He grinned. I knew that we wouldn't need all of these clothes but I had to make this believable, for Lucas' sake.
Suddenly, he remembered something, "Come on, Mummy, let's go!" He pulled my arm and led me to the door. He still had his coat on, obviously not wanting to waste any time by taking it off. However, I didn't, so before I opened the door, I grabbed a jacket, which was hanging on a peg. I also grabbed my car keys, as the journey to Peggy's house by foot would take at least forty five minutes, and I didn't want to waste any more time by doing so.
I sat in the driver's seat, meanwhile, Lucas had to sit at the back. Before I started driving, I decided to call Peggy, in case she wasn't at home. The phone rang for a very long time. I was just about to hang up when I heard the voice of my sister.
"Hello?" Peggy asked, her voice implying that she had just woken up.
"Hi, it's me, Kate," I replied, a little more upbeat.
"Oh, hi."
"Is it alright if Lucas and I come over? You know, seeing as..."
"Of course. We were just about to call. By the way, did you tell Lucas about tomorrow?"
"No... Did you tell Charlie?"
"Yeah. He was definitely upset, I mean, who wouldn't be? Don't worry, I'll remind him to keep his mouth shut in front of Lucas."
"Thanks. I'll see you there."
"Bye."
A trick that Lucas loved was when I wiggled my eyebrows, just like that girl did who posted it on the internet and became famous for it. I looked into the front mirror, trying to catch Lucas' eyes. When I succeeded, I did it and Lucas doubled up in hysterics.
"Again, Mummy, again!" he yelled. So I did it over and over again until we got to Peggy's house.
