Gone - Justin, Ezekiel, Owen

As I sit on the stump waiting for my turn to vote, I can't help but think it'll be me going home. With the way the team was talking about me, I wouldn't be surprised.

As Katie sits down, I get up to go vote. The red maker in my hand hovers over the paper. Heather and Courtney started it but Bridgette and DJ stabbed my back.

I close my eyes and make an X over Courtney's face. I place the picture in the box and head back to the fire. Waiting and being this nervous is like waiting for the doctor to give you a giant shot.

After everyone votes, Chris walks away to count. I sit silently on the stump with my leg bouncing. When I first got here I didn't want to be here, but now I feel like I have to prove to everyone they need me.

I feel someone put a hand on my knee and I stiffen. "Don't touch me and maybe you'll live." I snap. They take their hand off my leg and I turn to see who it is. Bridgette.

I roll my eyes and look at the fire. "I'm sorry." Bridgette tells me. I laugh. "You don't have to lie, Bridgette. I know what you said about me." I tell her angrily.

She's gets up and goes to sit next to DJ. I sigh and shake my head. Chris comes back chuckling to himself. Where the heck is Duncan?

"Votes are in." Chris says trying not to laugh. "People who are safe are DJ, Bridgette, Katie and Sadie." Chris says, throwing marshmallows at people.

I groan and run my fingers through my hair. Already the color is coming out, I'll have to dye it soon. I look at my team and see Heather and Courtney glaring at me.

"Does anyone know where Duncan is?" Chris asks, clearly annoyed. "You're the one with cameras everywhere." I tell him. "Who else is still in?" Courtney asks.

"Heather, Courtney, and Adria. You're all safe." Chris sighs, throwing us marshmallows. I stare at him. "I-I'm safe?" I ask. Harold shoots up and turns to the team.

"I thought we voted for her!" he shouts. "I did." Heather says. "Me too." Courtney agrees. "Us too." Katie and Sadie say. "I didn't even vote Harold." I mutter.

Chris laughs, almost evilly. "Adria is safe by popular vote. Harold you're out." Chris says. I jump up and smirk. "Ha! The people love me. Sucks for you, cuz there'll be a whole lot of drama." I tell them.

I walk away from the fire and to the cabins. They'll know the price of talking about me on live tv. I slam the cabin door and climb into bed.
~~~~~
I shoot awake. The repeating tap tap on the window is driving me insane. I climb off the bed, careful not to wake anyone, and walk to the window.
I open it and a face pops up, making me nearly scream. I would have at least if their hand didn't cover my mouth. My eyes adjust to the darkness and I see who it is.
"Duncan?" I whisper-shout. "Shh." he tells me. "Where the heck were you?" I ask. "I was trying to find Chris' place but I found something else. Come on." he tells me.
I close the window, throw on a sweatshirt, and walk out through the door. "Duncan?" I whisper. A hand grabs my wrist and I jump. "Relax red, it's just me." I hear Duncan say.
I sigh and look around. "What do you want to show me, and why couldn't it wait till morning?" I ask. "Just follow me." Duncan tells me.
He lets go of my wrist and starts walking who-knows-what way. "Duncan!" I whisper-shout again. He pops up in front of me causing me to jump again.
"I'm a person, not some nocturnal animal." I snap, getting back up and brushing the dirt off my pants. "Just come on." Duncan says, grabbing my wrist and dragging me towards the woods.
"If you're trying to murder me, I'm pretty sure it'll be filmed." I tell him. "If I wanted to kill you, you'd know." Duncan says, chuckling.
I roll my eyes and try to avoid tripping or getting hit by branches. Growing up in my family, you get used to avoiding getting hit by things.
"Can you tell me where we're going?" I ask, getting annoyed by being dragged around. "You'll see when we get there." Duncan says, ducking under a branch.
I stop walking and pull my wrist free from his grip. "Look, I've had enough crap today and I don't need anymore of it. So if you're going to leave me to get lost, leave now." I snap.
"What are you talking about? Why would I waste my time getting you lost?" Duncan asks, pushing a branch out of his way.
"What am I talking about? Were you not there when the team was talking about me?" I ask angrily. Duncan stops walking and looks at me.
"No, I was looking for you." he tells me. Before I can say anything, he starts walking again. I follow him, not saying anything.
~~~~~~

When we finally stop walking, all I want to do is sleep. "Are we there yet?" I ask for about the third time. "Now we are." Duncan tells me.

I walk past him and look around. "It's... a rock." I say, deflated. I really thought he actually wanted to show me something cool.

"It's not just a rock." Duncan says, chuckling. Duncan motions for me to follow him and he leads me to the other side of the rock.

"What is this?" I ask. "I don't know, I just... found it." he admit. I run my hand over the carvings. "You don't know." I repeat.

If you were someone else, you would have easily though this was a normal rock. But to an eye like mine - and apparently Duncan - you can see the clear carvings.

"Let's see, there's a circle, a crescent, a line, and an 'X'." I say. "What does it mean?" Duncan asks, leaning on a tree.

"What? Do you think I can read it?" I stutter, too fast and too loud to not be suspicious. Honestly, for being a juvie child you'd think I could lie better.

"Now I know you can." Duncan says. I sigh and look at the carvings. "Around the bend and straight to the....X?" I say, guessing on the last one.

"X? What x?" Duncan asks, pushing himself off the tree and walking towards me. "Maybe two trees form an X somewhere." I suggest.

"Whatever it is will have to wait. We need to get back to camp." Duncan tells me. I nod and we start our long walk back.
