Thea lit a cigarette as she parked her car outside the creepy-looking Hale House. Last time she was there she was informed of her parents dying along with most of the Hale family. Thea could clearly remember that day. She was supposed to be there, but after countless begging from her 5 year old self Peter reluctantly agreed to take her to Derek's basketball practice.
Her family, the Convels, were close friends to the Hales, being allied packs it was common they visited each other often.
At the time, little Thea adored Peter and Derek, since they spoiled her and played with her while Cora (who was Derek's sister and had been about Thea's age) had always ignored her and spent her time with Laura.
After the fire Thea was taken in by her aunt and uncle and saw the three surviving Hales (Peter, Laura and Derek) no more.
Of course, an event such as the fire killing both her parents, and suddenly being sent to a completely new life in a new city had affected her in more ways than one. The innocent 5 year old took a rough awakening, realizing hunters were no joke nor a made-up story by her parents to get her to behave... they were out for blood, not caring for the children that lived in the house nor the ones who hadn't even shifted yet. Growing up, Thea realized she couldn't be pushed around by anyone and she needed to defend herself, practicing her shifts and her skills, which also reflected on her at times aggressive and snappy personality.
Thea's life wasn't bad. In fact, she adored her life. In school, she was respected and feared. People knew not to mess with her and many admired her strong personality and how she managed herself while others were completely scared of her, which she took as an accomplishment. Her aunt and uncle truly treated her like their own daughter and her cousins like her little sister. She had everything anyone could ask for after loosing her family... But still, she couldn't help but feel homesick and out of place.
Beacon Hills had always been where she wanted to grow up, where she wanted to go to school, to live. And so, when she got word that Derek Hale was now back at Beacon Hills she was tempted to go, but a year later when she learned he had now become an alpha she finally decided she needed to go.
Her new family were sad, but nonetheless they understood and bid her goodbye. And now, here she was, outside the Hale house not really sure if Derek would even be here.
"Well," Thea sighed, throwing her finished cigarette to the ground and putting it out with her shoe. "Let's get this over with."
As soon as her shoe touched the porch steps the door was opened, revealing a tall overly muscular and grown up Derek Hale.
Derek stared at her in confusion as she smirked confidently.
"What? I get no hug from my favorite sour-wolf?" Thea sarcastically said.
Derek's eyes widened for a fraction of a second as he finally recognized the 17 year old standing in front of him.
"What are you doing here?" He coldly replied causing Thea to loose the smirk.
"I missed you too, Hale," she snapped coldly. In all honesty, she was hurt. She adored Derek when she was younger, and although she had changed, a small part of her had wished for Derek to hug her and make her feel like everything was alright, just like he did whenever she was upset as a child.
Derek was taken aback by her cold tone, remembering young Thea to be an overly happy child, never truly being able to get angry for more than two minutes. Derek then took time to actually stare at the girl in front of him. Her black hair had grown a lot, reaching almost mid back, she was dressed in ripped skinny jeans and a white t-shirt with a leather jacket, and her eyes where as blue aa he remembered. Suddenly, Derek's nose itched and he glared at Thea accusingly, "Are you smoking?"
Thea rolled her eyes, a small smile adorning her face for a second before wiping it off hoping Derek hadn't seen. "That's more like the Derek I remembered," she muttered faking annoyance, ignoring the question.
Derek pinched his nose in annoyance. He was so not willing to deal with a reckless teenage girl at the moment, having more things to worry about. "Thea," he finally met her eyes pleadingly. "Why are you here?"
Thea shrugged, "Isn't it obvious?" Thea mused, which caused Derek to look at her unimpressed. "I want to join your new pack, sour-wolf," she said mockingly. "Or should I call you Alpha Sour-wolf now?"
