"Bring me the new born!" The Queen raised with elegance as she demanded the guard. She held her head high with her Auburn hair braided to her side. Her long, fuchsia, gown flowed behind her as she walked. The Queen needed no make up because her natural beauty caught more attention than a face full of plaster. Let alone her eyes, the rarest in the kingdom, were a glowing violet.
"You're Highness, are you sure that you are ready?" A guard asked. He held his head low and looked slightly up at the Queen.
"I have been ready for the last decade." Her voice was sharp.
"Your Highness, I mean that it's only been a day. The newborn is still prone to sickness and still needs its mother."
"I am it's mother. Now bring me the child!" She powered over the guard. He bowed down then quickly scurried off.
The Queen paced the floor as she waited. Her hands rested over her stomach as if to hold it from falling out. Her face was pale but there was a faint smile. The guards could see her nervousness yet stood still, afraid to even move an inch.
The giant wooden doors opened. Coming through the doors was a woman holding a tiny being in her arms and two guards on either side. The woman clutched the child tight to her breast and stared at the Queen. The Queen stopped her pacing and watched as they approached her. There was silence in the room and a sense of anxiety.
The woman stopped in front of the Queen. Her hair was matted to her face, her face was pale and her lips quivered. She looked like she hadn't eaten in days yet the baby looked as healthy as could be.
"Your Highness, it is an honor to have served you. It is a blessing for my child to be wanted by you and I am ever in your debt." Her voice was petite and silky.
"What is your name?" The Queen stood strong and unmoving.
"Your Highness, my name is Mabel. What is the child's name?" Mabel bowed down and started handing over the child. The cloth that had covered the child had unfolded and fell elegantly to the sides. The child laid unclothed in the woman's hands. It cooed as it looked back and forth between its mother and the Queen.
The Queen gently took hold of the child's tiny hand. There was a faint smile hidden in her lips. "Her name will be Neviaha and she will be the most powerful in the kingdom."
