The Ones: The Dark Days

Chapter. III

The Ones arrived late. The damage had been done. Manehatten is once more destroyed and the street are decorated with the bodies of the dead. "Damn it." Said Starberry. "We're too late. Nocturnal Moon fly up there and see if their is any signs of Subtletune."

Nocturnal Moon flew up and she flew all around Manehatten. She saw a house that looked undamaged. It could be a lead, she thought. She landed and said, "there's a house that seems undamaged."

"Odd," said Brimmer, "no way did Subtletune missed it. Either way that house couldn't be finished already."

"Maybe it wasn't destroyed during the battle against Fire Wing." Said Scout Smiles.

"We'll never know if we don't find out." Said Starberry. "Let's go."

They arrived a few minutes later. They didn't bother knocking. Toxic Remix opened the door and they entered. Inside it was dark. The only light was from the fire place. They could tell that the floor and walls were made out of wood. It smelled of cigar. In front of the fire place was a chair. A stallion was sitting on it. He was an unicorn and he was smoking. He took the cigarette out of his mouth and puffed out smoke. He then put it back his mouth. "Who are you?" Said Alli, in a menacing tone. "Show your self."

"No need to act as the tough pony." Said the unicorn when he took the cigarette out of his mouth.

He got up and turned around and said, "we both know that you're not."

The Ones were relieved. They were happy to see a friendly face. They are looking at Mirage. "Subtletune didn't bother attacking your home, Mirage?" asked Starberry.

"He knew that there'll be negative consequences if he does." Said Mirage. "That's why he didn't bother attacking this house today or when he was hired by Fire Wing."

"Do you know where he is right now?" Asked Ariel Ace.

"No I don't."

"You're a damn liar." Said Scout Smiles. "Every time that you know something you never bother telling us."

"But I do know what you're up against." Mirage said, ignoring Scout.

Mirage put the cigarette back in his mouth. "You do?" Asked Nocturnal Moon.

"You all are up against Spark Fire." He said, removing the cigarette from his mouth. "Back when you stopped Fire Wing, Spark Fire pledged vengeance on all of you. She decided to lead Fire Wing's old army."

"Why is she doing this?" Asked Alli.

Mirage turned his back to them. He put the cigarette back in his mouth and inhaled. He then put it out of his mouth and exhaled cigarette smoke. "She's only fulfilling the prophecy." He said.

"What prophecy?" Asked Starberry.

"First let me tell you a story." Mirage said, still having his back towards them. "Several thousands years ago, an alien giant named Blackout was summoned by an evil alicorn sorcerer to destroy Equestria. And so it did, most of it at least. A young mare, whose heart was pure as gold, named White Flare rose among the weak and defeated Black Out he was sent back to his dimension. After that, a prophecy was written. It states that an evil alicorn will once more summon Black Out. Black Out will finish what he started. But a young hero, whose heart must be pure as gold, will rise and destroy Black Out. But the battle will take out her life. Spark Fire helped Subtletune get out of jail just for him to summon Black Out."

Mirage put the cigarette back in his mouth. "Is there any way to stop her?" Asked Starberry.

Mirage took out the cigarette and puffed out smoke and said, "yes there is. You must not do the same thing as Green Blitz did. If you repeat the same mistake, it'll bring everypony's doom."

He is now facing them. "How do you know all this?" Asked Shine Twister.

Mirage pointed to the mirror that he has hanging on the wall. "This mirror tells me everything, young one." He said.

"How?"

"Mirage has the ability to see the future and the present through mirrors. He also has the power to teleport through mirrors." Said Lighting Runner.

"That's right." Said Mirage. "I'll keep that child safe from future battles, Starberry. That's is one mistake that you are committing."

He put the cigarette in his mouth. "Green Blitz didn't take any child to battle." Said Starberry.

Mirage took out the cigarette and said, "did he?"

He went back to his chair and sat down. He put the cigarette in his mouth and inhaled. He then exhaled and said, "you all should be leaving now."

The Ones starting walking away until Mirage said, "by the way, I would be watching the weather everyday if I were any of you."

They had a puzzled look in their faces. "Goodby now." Said Mirage.

The Ones left. Mirage sat there and gave an evil smile.
