Nothing To Lose

Chapter 1

I quickly scanned my outfit in my full length mirror, making sure I didn't look like a complete idiot. I wasn't one to dress up with make up and hoop earrings, but I dressed pretty decent. I had thrown on a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, my white shirt that had "remember me, I'll be famous" written in light blue, and my light blue & white jordans.(Pic on the side)

"Brooklyn, hurry up! You don't want to be late on your first day, do you" shouted my mom, in more of a statement rather than a question. I grabbed my backpack and head downstairs. Breakfast was laid on the table but I didn't bother serving anything. I ditched the pancakes and decided to grab a carrot muffin off the counter instead.

I greeted my mother and new step dad, then sat on the couch and started munching on my muffin. I heard someone scoff from behind me, I turned around to see Jennifer standing behind me with a disgusted look on her face. "Good morning to you too" I mumbled, then turned around and continued devouring my muffin.

"Do you actually plan on going to school dressed like that?" she asked, acting like I was dressed in some old raggs that were in the trash. "Yes, yes I do" I said confidently. "You have to be kidding me right? My reputation is going to be ruined once people find out that you're my step sister!" exclaimed Jennifer. "I'm sorry, but I'm not, and will never, plan on dressing up like a barbie doll" I said, giving her attitude. She rolled her eyes and then stormed up to her dad and started complaining how she doesn't want me going to her school.

Great, this is what I'm stuck with for tthe rest of my life! A big stuck-up brat that doesn't want me around.

My dad had died a few years ago from some sort of pancreas disease. Ever since then my mom has been very depressed, but after she found Shawn, it was like she came back to life. They got married a few months ago, and now, here we are. My mom and I moved in with Shawn and his 2 children. I like Shawn, he's a pretty cool guy and he makes my mom happy. But his children on the other hand......... they are something else alright. I haven't met his eldest son Max yet, he's 17 and obviously a senior. But sadly I have met his younger daughter Jennifer, she is 16 and is a Junior. And then there's me, 15 year old Brooklyn who is currently a Sophmore.

All of a sudden I feel the space on the couch beside me start to sink. I looked over and saw this hot looking guy beside me. I'm guessing he was Max. "Sup, I'm Max" nodded the hot guy, sticking out his hand. I smiled and shook his hand, "Hey, I'm Brooklyn. Looks like I'm your new step sister"  "I guess so. Nice name by the way" Said Max, giving me a small smile. He turned on the Tv and started watching some sports channel.

Out of no where I heard Jennifer screaming to her dad (well our dad now) that she didn''t want to drive me to school. "I can feel the love alright," I muttered under my breath. I thought no one heard me, but Max clearly did. "Don't worry about her. Just give her some time and I'm sure you guys will be really close." Said Max trying to comfort me. "I highly doubt that! She's hated me ever since she had layed eyes on me" I said, rolling my eyes.

"Okay, you all better get going otherwise you will be late!" yelled my step dad as he headed out the door, along with my mom. Jennifer gladly picked up her backpack and walked outside. I assumed that she had agreed to let me drive with her so I grabbed my bag and followed behind.

Our parents had already left so it was just us two. I saw Jennifer get into the driver seat of a red porsche. I'm guessing that it was her car. I made my way towards the car when I saw it backing out of the driveway. I started running after the car but gave up because as soon as she was off the driveway she took off at full speed.

 *MAX P.O.V* 

I checked the time and realised that I had about 5 minutes to get to school. I turned off the Tv, grabbed my bag and ran out the door. I got into my car and headed in the direction of my high school. When I came to a stop at the colour-lights I saw a girl running across the road, almost getting hit by a car. The lights turned green and I started to drive quickly. When I passed the girl on the sidewalk, I realised that it was Brooklyn. What was she doing running across the road? I immediately pulled over to the side and started shouting her name. Brooklyn saw me and started jogging towards my car, "Hey, what are you doing?" she asked, looking a little confused.

"No, I need to know what YOU are doing."  I said, checking the time on the radio and then looking back at her. "Are you trying to skip school?" I asked, hoping her answer would be no. "No, no, I would never! Jennifer had drove off without me so I decided to walk. I suddenly felt bad for her but annoyed with my sister at the same time. "Get in the car" I demanded, checking the time once more. She saw that I was serious and hopped in.

"Where are we going?" she asked, looking out the window. "To school dumby!" I replied with a chuckle. As we started driving I apologized for Jennifer's behaviour. I started driving even faster because we only had about two minutes to get to school.

When we finally reached the parking lot Brooklyn thanked me and got out of the car. I grabbed my bag and ran after her. I was about to ask her if she needed help finding her classes but before I had the chance everyone that was in the area started crowding around me saying hi and asking how my summer was.

*BROOKLYN'S P.O.V*

When I got out of the car I quickly started walking away because I had remembered what Jennifer said in the morning about me ruining her reputation. I was guessing that Max was popular too so I was trying to help him by not letting people see him with me. But for some reason he came running after me.

I didn't really know that he was popular, I was only guessing. But my thoughts got proven when everyone started crowding around him and acting like he was a celebrity. I somehow got lost in the crowd but I found my way into the school. I got my schedule with all my classes but the problem was that I didn't really know how to get to any of them.............
