Her laugh rung out through the entire bar. Her smile was so beautiful to him. He smiled at her and raised his cup valiantly. He could watch her forever, just leaning back on that marble counter with her head thrown back in joyous laughter. He was happy knowing that he was the one who caused that smile on her face.
She pursed her lips in a tight line and bent forward, "You're happy today". Her eyes were filled with glee.
His smile grew even wider. "Of course I am. My beloved brother returns to the land of the living today!", he exclaimed and took a gulp from his shot glass.
"Say that louder", she grabbed the bottle of whiskey and poured it into her empty shot glass. "It's not like we're in a bar full of people that haven't got the slightest idea of the supernatural world", she whispered.
"Poor luck for them, Camille", he muttered with that lovable glib expression. "It'll bite them in the arse someday".
"Be more crude, Klaus". He chuckled lightly. Her words struck a nerve in him. He glanced at her, studying her expression. It was a habit of his. She turned her head to look at him.
"You mean like it bit me?", she asked. Her eyes were stern. She did that every time she was in 'shrink' mode. Klaus dropped his glass.
"Vampirism didn't bite you, Camille. You were in the supernatural realm long before we met. Long before she turned you. You were born to be a part of this", Klaus summarized. Cami smiled shyly. It wasn't a very real smile but she always felt gloomy when she thought of the fact that she was a vampire. It would never go away. It would just stay, haunting her for eternity.
"We should get going!", he announced after a very tense stare down. He hopped off his stool. "If we want to catch up with the others". He glanced at her.
"I had no idea we were in a hurry", she said, picking her coat off the back of the stool.
"I don't exactly want to be the last person to show up to our new home and then tell Elijah it was because we stopped at some musty bar in the middle of bloody nowhere", Klaus smirked as he pulled his coat around his body.
Cami smiled. "Of course. Always on the move". His grin was proud and excited.
"Will you take care of the bartender while I wait in the car?", he asked. Cami looked round and nodded.
"Sure".
They held each other's gaze for a moment. Then Klaus leaned in and merged his lips with hers. She reached out and clasped unto his collar with both hands. She kissed him back, slowly and with every bit of passion. He smiled against her lips. She gave him a gentle shove on his chest, ending the kiss. Cami gave his beautiful green eyes one last gaze before he strolled out of the bar with the aura of a king. She watched him leave before she spun around to face the jumpy blond bartender.
"Are you gonna pay for those?". She rose an eyebrow at Cami who just placed her elbows on the counter and looked into the girl's eyes eerily.
"No. I'm not. Because it's on the house"
The girl's eyes remained fixed on Cami. She had no idea that she was being compelled by a super-functional vampire.
"You're right", the girl perked up. Her high pitched voice tore through Cami's eardrums. "It is free".
Cami nodded. Her eyes darted to the empty shot glass that stood on the finely furnished wooden counter. The sound of the girl's beating heart was clear and nerve wrecking. She could hear the blood pulsating through her veins.
"Pick up that glass, slice your wrist neatly with a knife and fill it up".
The poor girl's eyes widened as she slowly picked up the lime knife and dragged it across her wrist, spilling her blood into the little cup. Blood rushed into Cami's eyes as she watched the girl.
