"So what's the destination, Captain?" Tyler explained with opened eyes while gripping the steering wheel. The blue in his eyes shimmering from the sun being so bright and laughing at his own words.

"Considering we didn't even make it' till lunch, some food would be very nice right now." I placed both hands on my stomach wincing in fake pain.

"Okay, drama queen," he laughed before continuing his words, "let me know when you see a place that looks good." Tyler and I had basically the same food taste besides him liking carrots and clams. Two things which I absolutely hate.

After about thirty minutes I saw a place with a neon sign that read, "Frankie's" and judging from the hamburger sticker on the restaurant window I knew this would be a promising choice.

"What about Frankie's?" I said just as we were about to drive pass the place.

"Jesus Em. Any later?" He explained as a he hit the brake so fast our body jerked forward from the force only to be caught by our seat belts moments later.

"Sorry." I whispered still trying to catch my breath, feeling guilty for what had just happened.

"No stop don't be sad that's the point of all this. For you not to be sad." He whined while rubbing soft comforting circles on the top of my hand with this thumb.

"I know I guess I'm just not in the mood lately, Ty." Again my words coming out as a faint whisper. Nothing like how I intended for my words to sound. I looked out the window while leaning my head on the glass.

"I promise today will cheer you up okay?" His words soon followed by a comforting smile.

"If you say so. Let's go eat before I faint." I commanded..

"Aye, aye, captain!" He exclaimed putting his hand on his forehead head, army style and waving it off like a pirate.

"You're still on that pirate stuff? What's up with you today?" Laughter soon filled the parking lot.

When we walk in the restaurant a little bell on the door rang signaling our entrance. Seconds later a middle aged lady with blonde hair approaches us.

"Just you two?" a welcoming smile plastered on her lips. She was a pretty lady. She was wearing mint green dress that ended just above her knees covered by her black work apron.

"Yes, please." Ty's voice startled me, because I wasn't listening. The lady didn't seem to notice although Tyler did, luckily, he didn't seem to mind. He was slightly shaking his head from side to side. I knew what he was thinking "lost in your thoughts again?" as if answering his thoughts I just simply nodded.

After sitting down in the corner booth there was comfortable silence. Moments later, Tyler's voice filled my ears.
"Do you know what you're getting?" he asks. I had been looking at the chicken sandwich with a cup of fruit and told him so.
"Mm sounds good. I might get the double burger with fries," that was the usual Ty. He could eat the whole menu if he really wanted too. Tyler was always hungry he could have just eaten and could still have a feast. Not surprised by his answer, I laugh.
"Oh Tyler, will you ever surprise me?" I manage to say in between giggles.
"Hey! Food is amazing okay?!" he holds up his menu in a glorifying way.

After the lady comes back, we order and she leaves with a smile. I look out the window and see a forest preserve across the street. I could see the tall trees and some deer hiding behind them debating if they should cross or not. I hope they don't I don't want them getting hurt. When I look back to Tyler he has his Gold iPhone 6s in his hand and his eyebrows furrowed.
"What's up?" I question him.
"Just got a text about a party at Diego's, wanna go?" He probably knows my answer already but I'm glad he decided to ask me anyway.
Tyler was way more well known than I was. He wasn't necessarily popular, but well known enough to be invited to parties by the popular kids every weekend. I, however, am more in the shadows. Not in the emo type of way, I just don't like huge crowds and school just gets me too nervous to talk.
"I don't know Ty.." before I can finish my statement with some lame excuse like "I have to finish an episode of the Fosters on Netflix," Tyler's voice soon cuts me off.
"No no no," he puts his index finger in front of my mouth as a "be quiet" gesture then soon finishes his statement "You're going. I think you need this, Em. Who knows, maybe it might even be good for you to get out tonight and get your mind off Tony."
"I don't know," I hesitate.
"Cody's going." Of course he would bring up Cody.
"I don't even have anything to wear." This wasn't a lie. I don't go to parties so I don't have anyn party dresses or clothes. The only parties I go to include a piñata and twenty little kids running, screaming and crying.
"Then we can go shopping after this! Perfect! After all, we did skip school to do something fun. Why not shop?" I'm not gonna lie shopping does seem nice.
"Fine." I accept his offer just as the familiar lady in the mint green dress arrives with our food.

"Here you go kiddos, enjoy!" the middle-aged women left our table with yet another smile.

I wonder if Cody would notice me. who am I kidding? I'm no one.
