CARINA'S POV~I woke up in Nathan's bed, his sheets wrapped around me like a cocoon, I unraveled myself and stood up from the comfortable bed, walking past his cupboard, but a peice of paper with MICHAEL written on the back stopped me in my tracks. I know you shouldn't snoop around in someone else's room but my curiously got the best of me. I lifted the sheet up and flipped it over. It was a news clipping, a boy named Michael Tate got picked up on the street, raped, killed and buried in a forest outside neighbourhood park. Little brother had found Michael. That's horrific. The pictures and words had been rubbed harshly or age had finally gotten to the paper but the title was the only thing readable.
The smell of bacon sizzled into my nose, and a smile beckoned to be placed on my face. I placed the sheet of paper back and headed down the stairs
"Smells good!" I shouted. Admiring each family picture that cascaded down the side of the wall. Family pictures with a woman and a man and two little boys.
Nathan has a brother?
"Thanks, I took a cooking class when I was 14, so I hope you don't mind bacon and eggs because I can hardly cook anything else." I chuckled slightly.
A smile appeared on his face, and I felt my heart flutter. Why had I never seen his smile before? His teeth were aligned perfectly and shone beautifully, a dimple appeared in both his cheeks as he looked down.
"It's still raining." I spoke aloud glancing out the big window, the rain danced across the clear glass making it difficult to even attempt seeing what's beyond the droplets. Nathan served the dishes, thanking him, I dug in. Bacon sizzled in your mouth and the egg was just perfect, not too runny nor hard, just right.
"Wouldn't your family be worried about you? I mean look at that storm, bloody trees have fallen over outside." Nathan asked in disbelief, eating some bacon. I smiled sheepishly at him.
"Nah, they're fine with it, they wouldn't really care anyway." I grimaced.
"Your parents ignore you too then?" He asked suddenly, my
Heart dropped. His eyes widened at realisation at what he just said."Your parents ignore you?" I spoke quietly, my voice barely a whisper.
"They don't really like." He coughed "How about we just watch a movie or something?" He smiled changing the subject as fast as possible. I frowned, then agreed knowing he clearly doesn't want to talk about it.
We put Hot Rod on and began to watch, I kept fidgeting because of what Nathan said and I couldn't contain myself anymore.
"If it makes you feel any better, I don't have parents."
NATHAN'S POV~
"Wait what?" I asked, my head snapping towards Carina. Her mouth dropped slightly.
"That's not what I meant, I do have parents." She laughed at herself, her cheeks turning dark red. I nodded slowly before turning back to the movie. "Somewhere." She whispered to herself, but thanks to my rat ears, I hear everything.
