~~~Rain~~~
My eyes stared up to the sky. The gray clouds swirling, turning, forming into makeshift faces.
I saw the rain before I felt it. The rain fell fast, prickling my skin until I could no longer feel my arms. The grass beneath me got hard, cold, and uninviting. My arms outstretched on either side of my body going colder and numb.
My clothing getting wet and cold. My face got cold, my glasses having drops of rain on them. I breathed in the humid cold air, enjoying it. So I stayed laying on the grass.
Thunder roared across the sky, as a light split through the sky crackling. The light coming from the sky soon died and it became dark. The only light source being a lamp post several meters away.
Eventually I forgot of how I got here, why I'm here, what I was thinking. All that mattered was the sound of the rain and the feeling it brought with it.
My mind calmed, going quiet, leaving me in a numb feeling. My eyes focused past my glasses to the sky and rain. The rain falling and crashing everywhere around me. The view made me feel like I was floating.
Suddenly images pass through my mind. Burning themselves behind my eyelids every time I shut them. I remembered;
Being little, and watching the raindrops roll down the car window. Watching which ones would hit the bottom first as we went to a destination unknown.
My brother leaving, going to his dads. Leaving me alone, the sky darkening and breaking open to cry with my sorrow.
Walking to the park at dusk while it lightly rained. Leaving me cold, but content when I sat on the swings. The cold metal burning my hands when touched on skin contact. Listening to music while I thought.
Walking to the church while it poured, excitement flooding my senses. Although feeling guilty to realize that she waited out in the cold rain for me. She smiled and seemed unfazed by it making me feel better.
Going to visit my mom in the hospital, the sky was gray and was raining. Casting slight shadows and smearing the windows with rain. My mom smiled when she saw me.
Going outside with my best friend. Deciding to jump in puddles, both of us getting soaked. The rain making the parts that weren't splattered to get wet anyway. Then the disapproving look from the gym teacher when we came in with happy smiles.
I blinked. Tearing me away from the happy and sad memories. I breathed deeply, observing the sky once more before I heaved myself into a sitting position. My numb body protesting as I got on my feet. The aches and the deep cold travelled through my body. I barely took noticed of it, since I didn't care.
It took me a little longer to walk before I got home. I sighed. I didn't want to go home, although I was tired and cold. I took my time, going up the steps my jeans sticking to me coldly. I opened the door and walked in. Taking one more glance at the crashing rain, before I shut the door.
