Sophie was browsing around Pac Sun, pushing clothes around on the racks. It was Thursday, five days after she moved into her dorm. School started on Monday and she wanted to buy new clothes, she was getting tired of her some ol stuff. Emily was in another store telling Sophie she'll text her when she's done in there. It was some totally girly, pink, girl store. Sophie rather would be in Pac Sun, so she is and still didn't find anything yet.
She was looking at a pair of shorts, trying to find a size 7, when she heard a familiar voice. "I just can't." The voice said, it sounded confused or stressed out even. "It would be so awkward." Sophie found a size 7 and walked around a bit more, but not far away from the low voice. It wasn't good to ease drop but she didn't want to turn around and make it obvious she heard. Her hands skimmed over some shirts as she tried to look interested.
"You never know if you try." Said another voice she never heard of. Okay, one glance wouldn't hurt. Sophie glanced to her right and there stood Harry, looking great, standing next to another guy with tattoos who was looking at some button downs. Wow, talk about weird. Harry fan his hands through his hair and shook his head, his eyebrows scrunched together. What was he stressing about? "It wouldn't seem right, you know?" Harry said to his friend.
"Well I think you should, what's the worst that could happen?" His friend said picking up a green flannel. "What about this one?" He asked Harry who shook his head. His friend nodded and put it back. "Don't stress about it bro." He patted Harry's shoulder who sighed.
Sophie was walking forward, looing on the floor and walked right passed them to get to the dresses. "Sophie?" She heard the surprised deep voice say. Damn. She turned around and saw the two boys staring at her.
"Hi, Harry." Sophie said, forcing a smile. This couldn't be more weird. "This is weird." She said chuckling a nervously.
"Definitely Is Emily here?" He asked. Sophie nodded and replied, "Yeah she's in another store right now."
Harry turned to his friend who was looking at Sophie. "Luke, this is Sophie. Sophie, this is my mate Luke." Sophie smiled kindly at Luke, who smiled back.
"Uh, I think I saw a shirt over there I liked. I'm going to check it out." Luke suddenly said, slapping Harry in the chest which Harry returned with a glare. "It was nice meeting you Sophie." Then he turned on his heals and walked across the store.
Harry ran his hands through his hair, looking a bit nervous. "Find anything?" Harry asked, looking at the shorts in her hand.
Sophie nodded, lifting them up. "Luckily had my size." She smiled politely.
Harry looked lost in thought for a moment then she slowly breathed in. "Sophie.. Can I ask you something?" He asked, looking on the floor then back up at her. For a tough looking guy, he sure was shy.
"Of course!" Sophie said, trying to make him feel comfortable.
"I know this might be awkward with you being my sisters' friend.. but I uh, was wondering if you wanted to hang out?" He asked. Was he asking her out?
"Hang out?" Sophie asked. Weren't they hanging out right now? Didn't they hang out all week with Emily?
"No! Not like that like hang out. But hang out as in like a date.." He half whispered. Why was he so nervous? Shouldn't he be all tough with these tattoos and that lip piercing? But that is just a sterotype.
Wow. A date. Harry wanted to go on a date with Sophie. This was something new, Sophie never really went on a date since sophomore year of high school. Once her mom got sick, she decided boys weren't the most important thing in the world. Sophie thought about it for a second. Did she want to go on a date with Harry? Emily's brother? He was attractive and funny.. and the way he was always interested in what Sophie said, it was like he hung onto her every word. Just noticing, Sophie's heart was racing and her face was hot.
She nodded, and couldn't stop the smile on coming onto her face. "Yeah, that'd be nice." That'd be nice? Wow she couldn't have picked a more lame wording. Harry smiled, his eyes lightning up.
"Awesome! Are you-" But he was interrupted by someone swinging their arm around his shoulder. He looked surprised to see Emily.
"Hey big bro. Nice meeting you here." She grinned up at him. Harry looked a bit annoyed.
"Hi." He said flatly.
"Oh, let me see!" Emily said, reaching down for the shorts in Sophie's hand. Sophie gave them to her and looked up at Harry waiting for him to go on.
"Uh, are you busy tonight?" Harry asked Sophie who shook her head no. "Can I pick you up at 8?"
"I'll be ready." Sophie gave him a reassuring smile.
"Waho, what?" Emily asked, her eyebrows raised in complete shock. "Are you guys like going on a date?" She asked pointing her finger between Harry and Sophie who both nodded. Emily looked up at Harry "Are you sure?" She whispered to him. What does she mean is he sure? Was there something wrong with Sophie?
"Can we talk about that later?" Harry said between his teeth. What were they talking about?? Sophie was getting slightly annoyed, crossing her arms and looking on the ground. "Hey," Harry lifted her head up and smiled at her. "I'll see you tonight, I can't wait."
"What should I wear?" Sophie asked. Harry shrugged, "What you always do. Just normal clothes." He glanced back at Luke who was looking at the same shirt for the last 5 minutes. Harry chuckled and turned back around. "I got to go, see you guys later." Then he was on his way.
Emily scrunched up her nose, "You and my brother? I do not want to hear details about kissing." She said holding up her hand.
"We're not going to kiss!" Sophie said. Were they? She wouldn't complain if they did.
------
Sophie was wearing her new shorts and tugged them down a bit. Were they a bit short? http://www.polyvore.com/untitled/set?id=88025777
"Stop that!" Emily said swatting her hands away. "They're not too short. You look good, like always."
Sophie took one last in the mirror until pulling her hair into a messy top bun. "You guys will be that hipster couple that everyone wishes they were like." Emily smirked.
"We're not a couple, for the 100th time." Sophie huffed. "Thanks for helping with my outfit by the way."
"Edgy, but no too edgy. Showing skin, but not too much skin." Emily said, poking Sophie's belly button that showed because of her crop top.
There was a knock on the door which could only mean one thing. Harry. Emily pushed Sophie towards the door as for she was frozen in place. Emily ran and sat on her bed as casual as she could be. Sophie pulled open the door and smiled at Harry who stood tall and his hair pushed back in a hairband. It was cute.
Emily rolled her eyes, "A hairband really? It's your guys first date and you wear that?" Sophie pushed Harry at the door and closed it behind them, leaving Emily in the room.
"Hi." She smiled at him. Harry smiled down at her and pulled his hands from behind his back. "I know it's a bit cheesy but I got you this." He said gesturing down to the rose in his hand. Sophie's smile winded, she loved cheesy.
"Thank you! I love it." She took it, taking a whiff of it. "You didn't have to do that." But Harry shrugged and held out his arm for her to hold.
"Shall we?" He half smiled down at her. Sophie gladly took his arm and Harry turned their walking into a skip. Sophie threw her head back, laughing. This night was going to be great.
