3rd Person POV
Cabir watched Jasmeet play with her hair from the corner of his eye as Gia went on yelling at her. All his life, he'd seen how rude and disrespectful his sister was, even though she thought he didn't know. Before, he never had the guts to say anything but after seeing what the real world was like, he couldn't hold back. "Di," he began to say and Gia's head shot up (Sis), "calm down. Stuff like this happens, I'm sure there is a solution to this."
"Cabir, don't get into all this. You have just come home; go inside, freshen up, take some rest," Gia replied, attempting to shoo Cabir away. "I guess I'll have to teach the witch a lesson myself." To everyone's surprise, Cabir didn't go inside. Instead, he slowly walked in front of Jaz, as if he was protecting her.
"Di, stop it. She has done nothing wrong. It was a bloody slip-up, it happens. Just leave it." He said said sternly. "Everyone, go back to whatever it was you were doing." he told the audience of no reason. Gia glared at Jaz, but she could see Cabir pleading for her to stop. Finally averting her gaze, Gia gave up and walked away.
Cabir grinned in triumph but Jaz, on the other hand, wouldn't look up. Gently, he placed his hand on her shoulder and her head snapped up. Sensing a slight discomfort, he put his hand down. Jaz stared at Cabir, pondering over why he did what he did. After all, he was Gia's sister.
"Thanks, for standing up for me." she said, almost inaudibly. Cabir frowned.
"I beg your pardon, what did you say?" he questioned. Why was this girl so nervous talking to him? He hadn't done anything wrong, had he? Then it struck him why everyone's face goes pale when he walks in, why everyone is nervous around him. His last name was Mathur after all, and everyone knew he was the son of Mehika Mathur. So automatically, people expected him to be harsh and rude.
"Thank you," Jaz repeated, this time much louder,"for standing up for me." A boyish grin spread on Cabir's face.
"You're welcome," he replied. "Why did you take on this project? I mean, I'm sure you're capable of doing it and all, but why? I'm sure you have heard what people say about my messed up family. We are rude, cruel, disrespectful, not accepting, and we always keep our heads in the clouds. Everyone who works here always quits at one point." As he finished his rant, he saw that Jaz was standing with a small smile on her face. The light breeze caused small strands of her hair to fly in front of her face that Cabir was tempted to push behind her ear.
"I don't think you all are like that," she said grinning. He returned the smile, still awaiting her answer. "I thought it would be a new experience for me. Since I have started my career, I have only been doing small weddings. I felt as if I was ready for this and when I got this opportunity, I thought why not take the chance? As for what people say, most of it is usually all rubbish. I wouldn't know until I met them for sure. And I still feel that people made up that nonsense. I'm sure Gia ma'am is just having a bad day." Cabir chuckled from beside her, shaking his head.
"Oh, you don't know how much all of that is true." He said between laughs. Jaz frowned. She couldn't wrap her head around why Cabir was behaving like this about his family. He continued to laugh, but inside his heart was filled with pain. He never wanted such a low family like this but there was nothing he could do. Avoiding Jaz's gaze, he picked up his bags and stormed off, leaving Jaz to stand in confusion.

"Don't act all good around him, okay?" Gia told Cabir as he slipped on the grey blazer. He rolled his eyes. Gia's to be husband must be exactly like Gia, he thought spraying on some deodorant and stepping away from the mirror.
