Levi's POV
The walk to school was a boring one, the weather like usual was dark and bleak and it filled me with unexplainable joy. This was the stereotypical British weather and I had to admit I adored it. How it would rain non stop so the smell of rain was always fresh, the smell of damp soil and the pitter patter of the rain as it fell onto my patio roof. It was the perfect atmosphere for a bookworm like myself; to be huddled up in a comfy chair with a hot cup of tea and a good book. Of course I couldn't forget the sweet purr of my cat Felicity as she lounged by the fire place.
What I wouldn't give to be home right now instead of this shit hole. High school bored me, to a great extent. The people were disgusting and vile with a lack of hygiene and dignity, they'd fight with anyone they could as a way to distract them from what ever shitty issues they had at home. In my eyes it was pathetic. Then again all humans in my eyes were pathetic.
They were just food. They are the same to me as cattle and other livestock is to humans. Just meat. Food. Proteins and all the good stuff we need. Humans are made of the exact same things. Muscle, tissue, organs, flesh and blood. So why was my species considered monsters? Are we not just predators to humans? Of course we are, but humanity have their heads so far up their arses they can bite their diagphrams. There were no institutes to help my species, no special schools or communities. Being a ghoul was dangerous.
If you had no one to help you, or teach you how to fight and hunt, you were pretty much screwed. Cause as soon as you were caught you'd be making a permanent reservation in hell.
I didn't like hunting, I didn't find any fun in it. There was no thrill or adrenaline for me, just boredom. Plus humans were always so noisy. Thankfully I have a friend who knows the hottest suicide spots, so any bodies undiscovered were food. Another reason I didn't hunt was the mess. I hate mess.
I kicked a stone off the side walk and looked up at the gloomy clouds above, us ghouls normally needed to eat once a week, usually that was enough to last us till the next week. So supplies never ran out.
As I grew closer to the school the smell of humanity filled my nostrils. The smell was what bacon probably smelled like to humans. Irresistible, mouthwatering and all too good. To me the smell of bacon was repulsive but humans seemed to love the smell of it.
I stuffed my hands in my pockets and walked into school with my usual blank and bored expression. I was thankful I had decided to eat last night, if I hadn't I'd be so close to snapping someone's neck and feasting on their ripe corpse. Not my style of eating.
I headed to my locker to gather my biology books when I ran into Hanji. Aka Shitty four eyes. Aka my butcher. Her eyes lit us as she bumped into me and it didn't falter under my glare. She grinned and ruffled my hair a little.
"Hey Levi! Did you miss me?" I roll my eyes and open my locker, hitting Hanji swiftly in the face. To my delight it made a loud bang and Hanji frowned and rubbed her nose before continuing to smile.
"I saw you last night when you dropped off the stock" Hanji swayed from side to side in a dorky way.
"So did ya?" I turn to look at her with a frown and answer blunty "No". Hanji was tall, taller than me. Her unevenly cut brown hair was pulled back into a messy ponytail and she wore thin rimmed glasses. Her eyes were dark brown and had a sort of crazed look to them and her skin had a slight tan. She usually just wore a shirt, hoodie and jeans with Converse or Vans. She was always in casual dress no matter what. She was a bit of a science geek and was fascinated with humans. The word 'obssessed' would be a better word to describe her 'facsination'.I was thankful that Erwin hadn't shown up yet, I wanted to avoid him as much as I could today. I might be able to do it but it was only a small chance. Hanji's sad face soon lit up again and she grabbed me by my wrist "We need to go see Erwin!" She squealed excited. Just the mention of Erwins name made me stop, she tried to pull me along but I didn't move an inch. She looked at me and pouted "C'mon Levviiii. Erwin wants to talk with you" I deepen my frown and pull my arm out of her hand. "Yeah? Well I don't wanna talk to him"
