I was pulled into a tight and unwanted hug as I stepped through my front door, my mother clung to me for dear life and then pulled back to smack me on the head. I frown and wince at the force of her slap and I stare at her worried yet angry expression. "Levi Ackerman where have you been? I have been worried sick. Do you know how many times I called you?!" I nod and stare down at my shoes to avoid her eyes "Sorry Mum" she glares for a few more seconds before her delicate face changes into a warm smile.
"It's okay honey just tell me when you're staying out after school. You know that it's dangerous to be out by yourself" I nod and walk into the kitchen to make some coffee. She follows behind me slowly and places her hands on her hips as if she was waiting for an explanation.
My mother was small and had the appearance of a delicate fifty year old woman. She was skinny and pale and small wrinkles were carved into her ghostly skin. Her eyes were the same cold grey as my own and her long charcoal hair was slung to one side and rested nicely on her left shoulder. She wore a pair of worn out jeans with a white blouse and was currently wearing pale blue slippers either for comfort or to keep her feet warm.
"I just stayed out with a friend mother, you don't need to worry" she rolled her eyes "Don't you lie to me Levi. I called up all your friends and they said you weren't with them" I sigh and pour the boiled water into my mug before dropping in special sugar cubes and stirring.
"I was out with a friend mother, he's new to school. I ended up hanging around with him for most of the day since he's in most of my classes. He was waiting for his dad to pick him up but he didn't show because of work so I walked him home"
My mother stared at me like I had just spoke gibberish and she shook her head slowly before rubbing her temples "Is he human?.."
"Yeah"I stared at the shower wall whilst thinking back to the night before. My mother wasn't too happy about Eren being human and didn't take the news as well as I would have wanted. She was just pissed off at me in general and I couldn't blame her, I was pissed too. More at the fact I got involved with a human than the fact I missed her calls, she got over the calls thing eventually.
I sighed and ran my hands through my hair to get rid of any more suds before stepping out the shower and heading to my room. I turn on my speakers and blast out ADTR whilst I get ready for school. I grab a pair of clean boxers and go through my draws to pull out a pair of baggy black jeans and a grey shirt. I toss them onto my bed before I dry myself off and I quickly get dressed before I make sure I look okay.
I had inherited the short gene from my mother and I was currently 5'3, she was just an inch smaller and it annoyed her every time she remembered. My hair was the same charcoal black and I had it styled into an undercut, a few hairs hung over my ash grey eyes and my skin was as pale as a corpses. Dark bags hung under my eyes giving away that I had insomnia and even though my body was small, it was very well built.
I grabbed my green converse before turning off my music and walking down into the kitchen, the smell of coffee filled my nose and I thanked my mother mentally for making some before she left. I poured some into my cup before checking my phone for any messages and was suprised to find non. I shrug and sip at my coffee before placing my cup down, I kneel down beside the counter and stroke the ball of fluff that was snoring softly in its bed. It poked it's little pink nose out to smell my hand before licking it and rubbing itself against it, I grimace and stroke her head before washing my hands.
As much as I love Felicity, I did not appreciate her getting her cat germs on me. I looked back at her to find she had fell back asleep and before I left the kitchen I left her some food.
I take a few sips of my coffee before turning on the TV to check the news, I flicked through the channels casually since there was nothing interesting on and I finish my coffee. I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket and I pull it out to read the text:
Unknown number:
Hey Levi, Wanna walk to school together?'Ah this must be Eren..' I look out of the living room window and take note of the rain outside. Why didn't he get a lift from his dad? Surely his Mother or father could take him..
I sigh and reply:
To: Unknown sender
Yeah sure. Meet you at the corner shop in 10I lock my phone and stuff it back into my pocket before grabbing my bag and umbrella. I make sure I have everything by going over my list of things and I nod to myself contently. I leave and lock the door behind me before putting up my umbrella and taking in a deep breath.
I love the smell of rain.
Along side the smell of rain I could also smell humans, smoke and other shit but that was just what I smelt on a daily basis. I leave the sad looking garden of my house and head towards the corner shop, as I stare up ahead I notice there's no sign of Eren. Guess I'm early. Or he's lost. I wait for a few minutes in the rain before becoming grumpy and impatient, he's taking his sweet ass time. Sooner or later he shows up and I frown at him in disappointment.
"I've only lived here for two days Levi, gimme a break" I sigh and nod "Whatever brat" I hear him chuckle lightly. Eren looked really happy today, his eyes looked more alive if possible. They shimmered and glowed like fireflies in a pond, he was wearing a dark green hoodie with black skinny jeans on again and from what I could tell Docs.
His brown hair was darker due to it being damp and the hair of his fringe stuck to his head messily. It bugged me but I tried to ignore it and I suppressed the urge to sort it out.
"We're your parents angry?" Eren asks shyly, I look up at him a little surprised at the question but I shrug "Parent* and nah not really. My mum's not the one to worry" what a lie that is.
Eren smiles and nods "That's good. My parents got worried I had walked home by myself but when I told them I walked with you they were pretty relieved and greatful" I nod and Eren grins, I had the sudden urge to smile back but I kept my mundane expression as we walked to school.
