Hybrid Princess

Chapter 2

“And this is where the ball will be held” I tell Zaus. He looks around the room and stares at the marble floors and royal blue curtains. I hear the sound of footsteps approaching us and tense up, but soon relax as I turn around and notice it is a castle maid.

 “Your highness, I was asked to show my lord to his room” she curtsies.

 “You have got to be kidding me” I mumble.

 “Well, my lord looks like it’s time for you to find your room. Thank you for spending your valuable time with me” I say, the sarcasm evident in my voice as I curtsey.

“The pleasure was all mine, ” he says as he smirks and bows. I watch as he leaves and follows the maid. I look around the ballroom before turning to Flame. “Come on, let’s go train” I say with a smile.  He nods with excitement in his eyes.

We leave the ballroom and Flame and I open our bond to one another as we continue down the hallway, making sure that we are not being followed. As soon as we reach the end, we take a sharp right, then a sharp left, then a sharp right again, and one more sharp left before going down the stairs to what appears to be a dead end. After checking one last time that we were not followed I placed my hand on the brick wall and mutter an incantation. A portal appears and Flame and I quickly jump through it as it closes behind us.

We arrive back in the woods outside the cabin and we immediately relax. “Now no one can bother us out here, ” I say with relief.

Flame smiles with amusement as he says “Yeah the palace is always a tiring place to be and especially now that you're engaged”. I frown “yeah, that is one thing I completely disagree with”. Flame nods and says no more as we both hear a branch snap. My ears quickly pick up the sound of people moving and I stay still until I hear someone about to strike me. I dodge it and hiss as my eyes turn to lilac and a powerful aura surrounds me. More punches are thrown at me and I continue to dodge them.  Flame growls and his rust red fur is quickly replaced with black fur that has sapphire blue on the tips. His ice blue eyes are replaced with deep dark violet eyes. His muzzle elongates as does his body, legs, ears and tail. There seems to burn in his eyes and runes appear on his paws.

I hear the attacker coming from my right and I quickly send a kick right to their midsection. They skid backwards with a hiss. I narrow my eyes seeing it is a vampire assassin. The assassin is tall and lengthy with blood red eyes and short spiked blonde hair.

 “Look out” Flame sends to me before jumping over me and pinning the other assassin down with a snarl. The assassin Flame tackled appears to be a little girl no older than 10 with brown hair in pig tails and dark red eyes as well.  Flame yelps as the girl quickly pushes him off of her with a hiss and then run towards him. I have to take my eyes off of Flame as I hear my attacker quickly move.

I prepare for the incoming blow, but nothing comes. I look around confused and then I feel a sharp pain in my gut as the guy assassin does an uppercut to my midsection. I let out a breath of pain that ends in a hiss. I go to rise up, but a blow to the back of my head sends me sprawling to the ground.

Flame is soon thrown beside me and we lay there as we listen to the assassins talk. “I think we should just kill them and be done with it” the guy says.

“It would be smarter to get some ransom money for them and then kill them on the spot” the girl says. The guy seems to ponder this “B-“. The girl cuts him off “No buts we are doing this my way”. Surprisingly the guy backs down and doesn’t say anything. “Now let’s go tie those two up” the girl says. They both walk over with rope in hand.

Flame and I both look at each other and understanding flashes in both our eyes. We wait until they are both upon us before we open our bond up half way. The power rushes in and we quickly launch up and push our attackers deep into the ground. “Never mess with a hybrid princess, ” I say before sending ropes of fire wrapping around him. Flame uses his demon flame to wrap the girl up.

                I quickly summon a messenger demon “go tell the guards that we have two assassins that need to be taken off our hands” I say. The messenger demon nods and shoots off like a bullet. Flame and I keep an eye on the two as we wait for the guards to show up. The assassins attempted to struggle at first, but noticing that they hurt themselves more in the process resigned themselves to their fate.

                The guards soon arrived and took the two assassins off our hands. “Well, we got some training in” Flame said with a snicker as the two were lead away.

“Yeah, that’s true, ” I laugh and then look down at the ground.

“What” Flame asks with a tilted head.

“I have a favor to ask of you”

“Okay, go ahead”

“Well…. I need you to stay in the human form for a while” I say in a rush.

Flame’s fur bristles “you know I hate that form”

“I know, but I need you to so that way the Venators don’t find out what you really are” I say.

        He seems to consider this for a while and then finally nods “okay, but only if you agree that once everything is said and done I can revert back to normal form” he says. I nod in agreement “once the marriage is done or it’s terminated, you can go back” I say. He nods and then sighs “I guess it’s now or never” he says. I nod and he starts to change form.

                His fur seems to fade away and is slowly replaced with skin and his face and body adjust to make him look just like a human. Not just any human at that, what was once a black and blue furred demon wolf with purple eyes, is now a six foot man with brown hair and blue eyes.  

        He was definitely the body guard type. Nodding at him, we walked back to the cabin and I opened another portal. We landed in the maze area of the garden and looked around. Spotting no one we started walking towards the entrance into the castle.
