Chapter 1: A Bit Unusual If You Ask Me

After Maka defeated the kishin Asura, everyone's lives in Death City began to calm down. However, there were still people who strayed off to the path of evil and their souls became kishin eggs. But, the students at the DWMA took care of them. ~

"Hey Maka, I'm tired. Let's go home now." "Fine Soul, but only because we did manage to find atleast one kishin soul.", Maka said while sticking out her toungue at her laidback partner. "Hop on then!", said Soul while getting onto his motorcylce. Maka sat on the back and put her arms around Soul's waist. Maka felt Soul smirk and started to speed off to their way back home. Something felt weird inside of Maka but she just ignored it. Ever since she defeated the kishin, she felt more relaxed. But when she was with Soul, she always had some sort of feeling that she couldnt really grasp. She felt happinness, but also a slight pain in the stomach. Whatever it was, it only happened when she either made contact with Soul, or when she stared into his scarlet red eyes. "Maka, we're here!", Soul said while trying to get out of Maka's tight grip. "Oh, im sorry Soul. I didn't notice." Maka let go and got off of the motorcycle. She made her way inside the building as Soul followed right behind her. She opened the door to their apartment and walked in. "Maka, it's my turn to cook. What do you feel like eating?", Soul asked while shutting the door. "Mmmmmm.... Anything's fine." "Woah, since when did Maka here let me choose something for once." "I don't know. I just want to see what you'd want to eat for a change." "Okay then." He made his way into the kitchen while Maka went to her room.

She grabbed a book that sat on her desk and opened it up to the page she left off. Maka read for several minutes when she looked up to catch a glimpse of Soul looking at her for a split second. When she blinked, he was focusing on opening something. Again that feeling came again, this time having a little worry feeling too. Did I imagine him staring at me? Could it have been a coincedence? She asked herself as she shook her head and continued reading. Half an hour later, Soul called to her," Maka! Dinner's ready! Better hurry!" Maka got up and went to the kitchen and took a seat. "Here." Soul gave Maka a sandwich on a plate. "Seriously Soul!? You made me wait half an hour for you to make TWO sandwiches!?" "What, you said anything was fine with you." Soul smirked. "Plus i got lazy and i didn't really wanna make a great dinner. I'm still tired you know." "Okay, okay Soul. Quit whining." "You started it." Both of them ate their sandwiches in silence. Soul got done way before Maka and just sat there looking at her. "Ummm, Soul, is everything alright with you?"

"Huh!? Oi, ummm yeah everything's fine." He said while he awkwardly scratched his head. Maka gave him a confused look and kept eating. Once she was done, she got up, but was surprised to see Soul stand up the exact same time she got up. She didn't know whether to be creeped out or surprised to see Soul act like this. If she knew anything about Soul, it was that he wouldn't normally do this. "Let's watch a movie.", insisted Soul. "Why a sudden crave for watching a movie?", asked Maka while giggling. "It's been awhile since I've seen a good movie. I got this movie Kid let me borrow and he said it was great. I thought you'd want to watch it too.", he said while softly gazing at Maka. She felt her cheeks getting a little warm. That feeling came again. "Sure, why not?" "Okay i'll put it on then." While Soul put in the movie, Maka sat on the couch. Soul sat next to her. While the trailers were playing, Soul stared at the TV, looking a little tense. Maka noticed that her shoulder and his shoulder made contact. She swore that she could feel little thumps from Soul's shoulder. Maka could tell Soul needed to take his mind off of something.

2 hours passed after the movie finished. Throughout the movie, there were some parts that made Soul and Maka laugh. But overall it was a good movie. "Soul, i think im going to go to bed." Soul stretched his arms and yawned. "Yeah, good idea Maka. Night.", he said while walking off to his room. Maka went to her room and shut the door. She got into some pj's and climbed into bed. As she layed down, she couldn't help but think about what was happening to both her and her weapon. She felt strange and she noticed that Soul was acting pretty strange too. Tomorrow, she would pay a visit to Tsubaki, one of her best friends that she trusted, to see if she had an idea as to what was happening to the two partners.
