Chapter 3

Sorry I haven't written an update in so long,but the end of the school year was really busy which meant no time. I've had writer's block on this story for quite a while now,but I've fixed that by writing a Johnlock one shot called "Love by Blog Entry and Rude Interruptions", so if you like Johnlock it's on my page. Anyway,here's chapter 3! Hope You Enjoy. Vote Comment etc etc. :)

We all looked around at each other in shock for a minute, before Jordan says in obvious confusion,"Ok. What in the name of District 13 is going on? I know this case is important,but I didn't think it was THAT important!"

Avery sighs and nods. "Well,darling Jordan, our dear Mr.Landake has just figured something out and,being a man, has not told us because he was in such a hurry to leave this damned conference table. So I believe that we should all proceed to exit to the door on my right," she sarcastically gestures like a tour guide toward to the open maple wood door,"And find out what our lovely department head has deduced in these short enjoyable minutes we have been together. Now,folks,please follow me as we make our way toward the middle of the complex that houses the office of Matthew Landake that I like to call the neighborhood of head morons and idiots."

"Well,Tour Guide Avery,lead the way. C'mon everyone! Pull out the cameras! There will be some sights to see on our way to this "lovely" destination," Carter gestures for us to get up and with that we're all speed walking toward Matt's office. It takes us about 5 minutes to get there,but when we do I open the door and send it crashing into the wall.

"What in the depths of Tartarus was that?!" Matt rarely does this,but when he does it pisses me off big time. Cecelia comes up behind me and peeks over my shoulder since she's shorter then me.

"Yeah really! Was it a "case" of drop and run?" Of course she throws a pun in there. We all ignore it and come to face our department head again. He sighs and decides to finally speak.

"Well,Miss.Parkerlei, you see I have information on this computer that I need to show you,but in my haste to present it to you I did indeed forget to tell you what I was doing." Well, that was a frustrating way to tell us what he wanted.

From behind me I hear Iris mutter,"Typical male stupidity," which makes me snicker. Matt speaks again.

"Please sit down. All of you. I just found out that one of our other favorite people is involved in this "game." It is absolutely Saruman and I have some evidence that makes me think that the 2 normally solitary villains have become allies." The whole group groans. Saruman is the #1 cyber criminal and if they actually are cooperating then the borough is screwed and stands no chance what so ever. The problem is that we don't know where Saruman is based and we do know where Smeegle is based,but it's so well protected that it would take months to infiltrate. Scarlett's voice breaks me out of my haze of thought.

"Okay,so what is it? The news?" She sounds agitated and when she's irritated,well,it's not good. The last time she got into a funk like this,she shot a wall... (Sherlock reference) Multiple times and by multiple I mean 10.

"Scarlett,calm down. When you hear what it is, it will be we'll worth your impatience."

"Mr.Landake, the fact the wait is worth it will be determined by me and only me."

"Can you just spit it out already? I can't wait anymore!" Marissa butts in abruptly.

"Ok. Let me get the main gist across first. We found Saruman's headquarters," Matt says this with trepidation. We're all shocked,but the first to question his news is Scarlett.

"WHAT?! HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT?"

"Once again,my dear Scarlett,let me continue. It took us 4 months and we lost 5 agents in the process. Hopefully the sacrifice was worth it. (Star wars reference) Saruman is based outside the puny city of Fargo,North Dakota. The state that has been in debate within our "esteemed" congress for the last 50 years. The location choice is both strategic and smart. Barely anyone lives there which makes for optimal experimenting opportunities. There is also a lot of open fields there and we believe that Saruman is using a fuel made from the abundant corn husks. Nobody really pays attention to the actual state,so if something did happen then the news wouldn't go national unless Saruman wanted it to. This means that the FBI has no records of North Dakota in the last few years,which is rather problematic. Anyway,I need a team of 5 to go to North Dakota and ruin the headquarters. Who's up for it?" Matt finishes and we all look at each other. Cecelia speaks up first.

"Well obviously Athena and I will go,since I want to beat that S.O.B. Smeegle into the ground and if it involves crushing Saruman in the process,all the better." She looks at me for approval and I give her a nod.

"I agree with,Cecelia. I'm in," I try to say it with conviction,but I'm nervous.

"Excellent. We have 2 members of the team. Who will be the last 3?"

"I'm in. I've been bored out of my skull since that drugs bust heist in the Ukraine."

"Great. Scarlett,you're in."

"I guess I'll join too. Sounds like it could be fun!"

"Carter, I think you'll be good in this mission and I'm making my own call now. Iris, you're on the team as well."

"What? Why can't Moorlyn go? I hate field missions!"

"But you have incentive. You can play with your lasers. No limit. However,I do need Moorlyn here in case Smeegle attacks again,which I suspect he will."

Iris gives him a devious looking grin,"After you said unlimited laser use I didn't need any further explanation."

"But I want to play with the lasers too!"

"Moorlyn,you know exactly why I need you here. Don't complain."

"Ok,sir. But I want them back after the trip."

"Ok,Shipwreck. That's fine."

I had had enough of the idle conversing so I decided to interrupt.

"Sir,this is all well and good,but with all due respect,how in hades are we getting to North Dakota? It's not like there's an airport or anything."

"That is where you're wrong my, dear goddess. There is a minuscule landing strip in Fargo and I have set up transport for you and the team to arrive there in 3 days. By the way, the leaders of this mission are you and Cecelia. Cecelia, you are leading the tactical half of this and,Athena, you are leading the infiltration and destruction half. Is that all clear to everyone?"

Cecelia and I nodded to each other with sly smiles playing on our lips. Everyone nodded to Matt in agreement.

"Well,team,I have no more to say to you. Off with you and begin planning. And no,watching an assortment of British movies does not count as preparation."

I pouted in disappointment,"C'mon,Mr.Landake! Having a Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings marathon is perfectly applicable to this mission. We do know that Saruman is partially british! What about Sherlock?"

He tilted his head in consideration and finally sighed in consent. "Ok,fine. You can watch 3 episodes of Sherlock and I want you to take notes. The episodes you are going to watch are "A Study in Pink","A Scandal in Belgravia",and "The Great Game". Athena and Cecelia, I'm sending you the lay out of the building,so while you watch you can plan. If you have questions simply call me. Now off you go." Matt waved his hand to send us out of the office. As we walk out Scarlett and Iris come over to me and Cecelia.

Scarlett says with excitement evident in her voice,"I haven't been this excited since the undercover mission to Belarus. I get to go into the field AND watch Andrew Scott,Martim Freeman, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Life is good!"

"Totally agreed,Sister," Iris and Scarlett high five and run off toward the conference room with Cecelia and I close behind.

Cecelia turns to me before we enter and says,"Goddess,are you sure we're ready for this mission?"

I reply with no doubt and it's completely genuine,"I am so sure that we are ready. And I can tell that you think the same."

"Yeah, I do agree with you. We've waited long enough."

"Okay then,Ferbie, let the games begin!" And on that optimistic note we walked through the door to start planning the field case of a lifetime.
