Chapter 1: My name's Cora Evans
As the last bell rang, the students sprang out of their seats and headed out. School was over. Cora gathered her books and headed out. Ian tried to catch her before she left but Mr Fitch stopped him.
As Cora Evans made her way to her locker, Zach Masterson caught up to her.
"Hey Cora!" he called out.
"Hey Zach! What's up?" Cora said cheerfully.
"You sound happy," Zach pointed out.
"Yeah, I almost got in trouble during History."
"I heard about that. You ratted Sterling out?" he asked.
"Yeah, is that a bad thing?"
"Kinda... Look, no one has ever ratted him out before. You better be careful, Cora. He could hurt you," Zach warned her.
"I'll take my chances," Cora said, relaxedly as she opened her locker and stuffed her books inside.
"So um, Cora... Are you doing anything this Friday?" Zach asked nervously.
"That depends. Are you asking me out? Or are you trying to ask me out?" Cora joked.
"A little of both maybe?" Zach said with a sheepish smile.
"I'll think about it."
"So it's a no?" Zach said disappointedly.
"It's a maybe," she said as she shut her locker door and walked out.
"Hey! That's good enough for me!" Zach called out.
Cora walked out of the building and found Ian leaning against a bike. He looked like he was waiting for someone. He looked at the entrance and his eyes met hers and a smile crept on his face. Cora chuckled and headed towards him.
"Hi," Ian said.
"Hi," Cora replied.
"You got me detention," he said.
"Should I be worried?" Cora joked.
He let out a chuckle. "No, not really but it's a first," he said as he smiled.
Cora blushed and looked down. She didn't know why she was blushing. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and looked back up.
"Why won't you tell me your name?" Ian asked.
"Because it keeps the mystery alive," Cora said shyly.
Before he could say anything else, Cora's brother, James Evans arrived with his truck and honked his horn.
"I gotta go. My ride's here."
"You're getting on that death trap?" Ian asked.
"Hey! Lucy's not that bad!"
"Lucy?" Ian asked with a smile.
"The truck," she said.
"Well, why don't you let me give you a ride?"
"On that death trap?" she teased.
"Well played, Evans. Well played," Ian said.
"Thanks but no thanks. And besides, you got detention," with that Cora Evans hopped on the passenger seat of the truck and the Evans siblings drove off.
The next day, Cora Evans got down the truck the same time as the day before but only to be greeted with the biker boy, Ian Sterling.
"Hey, I'll catch you later, Jimmy," Cora said to her brother.
